Academic Flexibility: I didn't have any problems with any of these things.

Tuition & Financial Aid: Everything was very straight forward and the staff is excellent. I love talking to them because they make sure you know that you aren't just another number.

Facilities: I feel like Kirkwood is small enough you get to know a ton of people in a short amount of time. In a few short months we're like a big community that's always lived together. It's awesome!

Academic Experience: It was a lot when I had 12-14 hours class times, but I got through it and I am now into the Health Information Technology Program and my general education classes are out of the way. I just finished my first clinical and thoroughly enjoyed it and it taught me so much about my chosen field of HIT.

Academic Experience: I have never had a issue with the professors, workload, or curriculum, probably because I took help from the resources that were offered me.

5 College Junior

Facilities: Everybody seems to generally care about each other. I have never had a class in which I finished and didn't leave without a friend, maybe even two or three. The classes are set up so that you have to have social interaction.

Campus Resources: The resources that Kirkwood gives you are enormous and yours for the taking. Any student that does not take advantage of the resources would be at a great disadvantage.

4 College Junior

Campus Resources: The speed is on the slower side, but other than that, the computers work well and they printers as well, they give us an allowance of $30.00 for printing at five cents per paper, so any student can have up to 600 pages printed off for free.

Academic Flexibility: I have had a good experience at Kirkwood. During my last year at Kirkwood most of my classes are online, but when I did most of my general education classes, I only had to go a few blocks to get to the campus. I have always been greeted with smiles and friendly faces.

Overall Experience: Their Pre-Engineering program is great.

If you live in the Cedar Rapids area and are planning on going to University of Iowa or Iowa State for Engineering, there is no reason not to start at Kirkwood Community College(unless you got a good scholarship at one of those two). As with any school there are instructors that aren't the best teachers. However, every instructor I have had is more than willing to help you outside of class with understanding the concepts being taught.

Almost all instructors are very personable as well.

Also, I was able to basically pay half tuition due to scholarships received. I didn't even show any financial need.

Campus Resources: There are so many resources at Kirkwood, I still haven't used them all. The library and computer lab is my most used resource, you can print homework, study quietly, and research the online databases and bookshelves for an upcoming paper. There is also a writing and tutoring center where you can go to receive help on practically any assignment. Every Tuesday and Thursday for one hour a day while the teachers have meetings Kirkwood set up several intermural activities and group activities to join or maybe you can just grab a bite to eat. Many other resources including: a bank, Student Services, and Eaglenest.

5 College Freshman

Campus Resources: There is always computer access somewhere on campus. I've never had the network crash on me, poor speed, and I've always had wireless access. The printers are another great resource, you are given about $30 a semester for printing and each page is normally 5 cents so you can print about 600 pages a semester with no charge to you.

Overall Experience: Kirkwood in my opinion is the best! I'm currently enrolled in my second semester at Kirkwood and studying my liberal arts degree. My experience at Kirkwood has been phenomenal; the teachers and advisors are extremely helpful, the classes challenge you and all at a low cost. What I like the most about Kirkwood is the quality help they have given me to make sure as many credits as possible transfer to the four year college of my choice.

Student Body: There is a great amount of acceptance for diversity in this school.

Tuition & Financial Aid: I thought that the financial aid process was a little hectic. Book cost and expectation for the OT program is a little outrageous.
