Overall ExperienceWhat's This?

Nestled in the Cuyahoga Valley of Northeast Ohio, Kent State exhibits many of the characteristics representative of many a Midwestern college but offers students a distinct experience that most would not trade for anything. Students fall in love with Kent State for a number of reasons, and many consider it a second home. Many graduating seniors are reluctant to leave their undergraduate home, even if they feel well-prepared to tackle the next stage of life. If they could start the college selection process all over again, an overwhelming majority of students would still choose Kent State. No University is perfect, and Kent certainly has its flaws, but there have been incredible improvements within the last few years, and many more are sure to follow.

In describing Kent State, many use the word "underrated," and it's true that the University does not receive nearly as much commendation as it should. Many academic programs are recognized as being among the best in the nation, if not world, and the University and town of Kent offer a myriad of opportunities and experiences for those willing to seek them out. As cliché as it may sound, Kent State's future looks extremely bright, and as the University continues to garner more prestige each year, students, faculty, and administration alike exhibit a general positivity and renewed interest in the school's continued welfare and prominence.

3 College Freshman

Majors: Some of the classes are very hard, and there are not so good professors. Getting "A"s is very important here, without good grades it means not getting into a major. The push for good grades is very stressful.

3 College Freshman

Majors: I enjoy my nursing program, its just very hard and competitive. Its very stressful to get good grades, and a tremendous amount of pressure.

Diversity: There is some diversity. There are more Caucasian females on campus, the African American population is low. There are a ton of different races and sexualities here. The acceptance is high

4 College Freshman

Academics: Its a hard program but we have great teachers and classes. You learn a lot, and are more likely to become and excellent nurse.

3 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: They are pretty strict on drinking, drugs and parking but lax on most other things.
