3 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: Some noise in honors dorms which have 24 hour quiet hours

4 College Junior

Campus Strictness: The campus strictness at KSU is very good for the most part. I am a bit frustrated with how strict they are on parking though.

5 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: The school makes sure that our school is safe as possible and if any threat is apparent, they police will put use in lock down to make sure our safety is secure before allowing us to leave the safety of out dorm rooms. In addition, even though visitation is on the lenient side, after a specific time, students must show their student IDs to get into the building, which I believe makes the dorms more safe at night.

Campus Strictness: Just don't do anything too stupid and you should be fine. Use your brain.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: I would say that the Kent State University police and administration are exceptional when holding up the rules and regulations provided by the Kent Student Code of Conduct. Especially when talking about respecting the rights of other students and staff on campus!

On campus, most incidents are dealt with by campus security aides or residence hall staff. Some authorities will be more lenient than others, so it's almost impossible to make any categorical assumptions about the repercussions of breaking campus policies. Keep in mind, however, that campus security and hall staff can always involve the police if a student is breaking a law—and they most likely will. However, on the whole, University Police Services is more concerned with drunk drivers and public disturbances than with smaller issues on campus. In town or on the streets, you're only likely to be stopped if you're causing a disturbance or are very obviously intoxicated. Most students are smarter than that, and can last their entire undergraduate career without having a run-in with security or the police.

In the residence halls, quiet hours are enforced, although there are seldom serious consequences. Certain halls allow "of age" residents to possess alcohol, but its discovery in other dorms will lead to negative outcomes for all involved. However, only students causing notable disturbances are likely to be discovered. In general, there are relatively few incidents on the Kent State campus. If you do get into trouble, police and security personnel are generally understanding, and they'll most likely respect you if you respect them. However, students who are smart about the things they do and the ways that they go about doing them should have no problems.
