2 College Freshman

Weather: Being in the mountains, it is extremely hot in August and September when we first get here. However, when the winter hits, it hits hard!! The weather is very bipolar here, like one day it will be raining then the next it will be snowing, then it'll be sunny outside and blazing hot, then the wind will practically blow you away!

1 College Freshman

Weather: This year has been awful. You never know what the weather is going to be at the beginning of the day to the end-it could be completely sunny and warm in the morning and then pouring down rain in the afternoon. This years winter was freezing and we had tons of snow.

3 College Junior

Weather: I love walking to campus in the sunshine, but having to walk all the way across campus in the wind and rain is the worst!

3 College Freshman

Weather: It's cold in the winter and winter seems to last forever!

4 College Junior

Weather: Warm days mixed into Winter season

The weather seems to pose a problem to the common JMU student, but it still has its moments. In fact, for the final months of each year, JMU students soak up the warm sunlight around the Quad/Village area. For the majority of freshmen living in residences devoid of air conditioning, fall tends to leave them a bit irritable. The first months are the hardest, with temperatures rising up to the 80s or 90s on a typical day. Winter seems to be a welcome visitor for freshmen, as they can finally experience a little bit more comfort in their hot dorm rooms.

With the erratic first couple of months, students tout umbrellas, good walking shoes, and the appropriate attire to combat Mother Nature's tempestuous mood swings. Some days, you don't know whether you'll be greeted by a cold gust of wind or a muggy cloud of heat. Many students see fit to pack loads and loads of summery attire while still saving room for some sweaters, gloves, and scarves.
