Off-Campus Housing: The Reserve is a beautiful place to live; however, the prices are very high. The parking availability was average at The Reserve, but there is a Dollar General within walking distance; having the store close by is an advantage. Also, I have heard from many JSU friends that the parking at Colonial apartments is terrible. Some of my friends have not been able to find a parking spot, and they are paying to live there!

Off-Campus Housing: It's always better to live off campus in your own place. Great apartments and good prices. The Reserve is where everyone normal stays

College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: I live on campus because of my scholarship, so I won't ever be purchasing housing off campus until I complete my undergraduate degree.

College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: I live on campus and do not own a car, so I really can't review the offcampus housing. From what I've heard, seen and read though, some apartments are really nice and others are really, really ratty looking- the Penn House apartments being the worst offenders.

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: There's just not a lot of choices. The best thing is to know someone already living in some and take their place when they leave.

Many students want more freedom and decide to live off campus. There are both advantages and disadvantages to doing this. Your safety is the most important thing, so be alert. Always tell someone where you are going and when you will be back. Try to get roomates that you know and trust. Make sure you can afford rent, utilities, and groceries before you sign a lease. Make sure your roomates are willing and able to pay their part of the rent.
