Students receive some of the best home-cooked meals away from home throughout their college experience at JSU. Many students who are not from the South get the Southern meal, and some even learn how to cook Southern food so they can keep eating it after they graduate. There is a daily surprise from the chef, and he almost never lets the students down.
The campus dining halls serve a decent purpose for students who live on campus or do not have transportation to off-campus restaurants. The locations are close to the dormitories, so students do not have to walk a long distance to eat. Students can also use the student market that sells basic household needs. Many students spend most of their money at the surrounding restaurants due to campus dining closing before 7 p.m. If any student gains the Freshman 15, he or she has spent a tremendous time at a local or fast food restaurant.
