Overall Experience: I enjoyed my first year. This wasn't originally my first choice but they still have my scholarship available for me and allowed me to still come.

Academics: I major in Speech Communication with a concentration in Theatre. I have always been a person who loves to be on stage or use my powerful voice to encourage others. Being in this major I have learned a lot so far but there is more to learn once I finish. My department is very small and the whole department works as a team and takes very good care of their students. Many people ask what will we do with these types of majors. That's always a good question and there are several things we can do such as teach, speak for lawyers, motivational speaking there are others just to name a few. We have been blessed to also travel to different states to perform and that really helps us to put our name out on the map. There is also a small theatre by the name of New Stage where they give us the opportunity to work with them to get work experience in the theatre world.

Guys & Girls: Jackson State University is a very diverse college and the students make that happen. There are people who come from out of state and from different countries so just imagine how different people bring there style to school. If u were to visit our campus you would see that most of the colored females wear weave in their hair or rock the natural style. Most of the whites that attend the college are athletes.

Greek Life: Greek life is very great at my school. I am a member of the lovely dovely women of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated. I crossed in the spring of 2013 and I am the ACE of my line. Greeks around our campus play a huge rule because we are not just about throwing parties and stepping we strive to help our community as well as our campus. We do several different community services such as visiting nursing homes, cleaning up our community and our campus, visiting schools, and several others. However, being Greek does not get u any high class dorm privileges. Greeks on the Jackson a state University campus strive for work.

Overall ExperienceWhat's This?

Jackson is the home of many, and the future home of many to come. Prospective students always want to know: Why choose JSU? Choosing Jackson State is one of the best choices a student can make in his or her life. Many people are quick to judge this University because of its HBCU title. Once you're here, though, you receive a reward that will be remembered. Every school has it down sides, some more than others, but this does not characterize the University's ability and what it can do for you.

Students at JSU strive to raise the standards and live above the stereotype set out for JSU. They show love for their school through sports, academics, and community service. Attending JSU teaches you to respect others and use common sense. If you did not know who you were before entering, you will know upon graduation.

The professors are very encouraging, and they care about their students. The knowledge they instill in one is different but comprehension. Many professors have personal relationships with their students, and it makes the college ride a smooth sailor. You will meet people from all over and establish a long lasting relationship. This is the best part about attending Jackson State.
