3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Living on campus is expensive. There are many things to do on campus in terms of college-run activities.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: I lived in the Upper Quads, which was great because everything is just a short walk away. However, when living in most of the other buildings you have to walk pretty far and or climb a lot of stairs...

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: It's regular, the rooms are good. Heating could be better, but I think that just my building.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Freshman have pretty convenient housing, housing options for sophomores kind of suck. Circles and off campus houses are sick.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: You make a lot of friends where you live.

IC is a residential college and requires all first-year students to live on campus in traditional dormitories. Since the College also offers apartment-style housing on campus, upperclassmen can stay on campus while also enjoying a more independent style of housing. Apartments give students the option of living more independently because they are not required to purchase a meal plan. As far as the variety of dorms, there are several options for students. Boothroyd Hall has been renovated and definitely has the biggest dorm rooms; this dorm is part of the First-Year Residential Experience Program, so it's open exclusively to freshmen. In terms of the other residence halls, the Towers are known for being loud, but when it’s cold, it’s nice to not have to venture outside to eat. The Terraces are far from campus, so it’s a pain to walk in the bitter cold. Emerson Hall has private bathrooms and offers air conditioning.

IC offers many housing options, and most students are generally happy with where they live. The special housing dorms can be very beneficial for those who are interested. Skilled resident assistants are required to design informational programs for their residents, and the RAs are also there when their residents get locked out, become confused about how to register for classes, or just need someone to listen. The residents of some dorms form tight communities, particularly freshman housing, while others don't know their neighbors too much.
