Campus Housing: Freshman year: Towers
Sophomore Year: Emerson
Junior Year: Garden Apartments
Senior Year: Move off campus already!

Housing is convenient and dorm life is awesome. Students at Ithaca like to have fun but I never had a problem with too much noise at night.

Off-Campus Dining: Food in Ithaca is delicious!! My friends and I always reminisce how great viva, shortstop deli, boatyard grille, Simeon's were.. pretty much anywhere you go for food downtown is AMAZING and affordable (especially when parent's are in town.)

Off-Campus Housing: Off campus housing is super cheap but unless you live off of Coddington a car is recommended. I lived on Prospect and although I didn't have a car, my friends lived next store and took me to class. Housing is really affordable and a fun experience.

Health & Safety: Super Safe – Never felt nervous walking on campus. Recommend walking of campus in groups however.

Transportation: TCAT is the worst, Cabs/walking are the way to go.

Greek Life: If your a girl looking for a frat party head to Cornell. They love IC girls cause we're prettier and more fun.
If you're a guy.. get a pong table for your room cause you're SOL.

Greek Life: There is no Greek life unless you join a Cornell University frat or sorority.

Facilities: General Campus Aesthetics – The campus is state of the art GORGEOUS! The campus over looks a lake with a massive fountain on campus! It is artistic and environmental.

Local Atmosphere: The town is a beautiful hippy town. The people are nice and friendly. It has a small town feel with a lot of choices of food and outdoor activities.

Parking: Parking permits cost around $120 a year for upper classmen but $500 a year for freshman. The freshman parking lot is situated the farthest from campus but offers a lot of parking. The designated student parking lots (red lots) tend to fill quickly but it is not overly difficult to find a parking spot close to the academic buildings.

Nightlife: There are often parties in the on campus Circle Apartments on weekends, mainly Friday and Saturday nights. They tend to start around 1030 and get busted by Public Safety around midnight. They are often places for dancing and meeting new people. There are a few off campus parties but not as regularly as Circle parties. Cabs such as Ithaca Taxi and the Green Hornet are convenient and cheap ways to pile all your friends into one vehicle to safely get to your destination. Cornell is a 5 minute car ride away and offers some frat parties to Ithaca students but more often than not, you will get turned away.

Facilities: IC Fitness Center – The Fitness Center on the Ithaca College campus is extremely accessible and convenient to use. It is a very comfortable environment to work out in and provides students with free group exercise as well as two basketball courts and a fully equipped work out room. The Fitness Center is one of the many facilities at campus that students are able to use and feel safe and comfortable in.

Campus Housing: The atmosphere of campus is friendly for the most part. You always have those people who don't like to say hello but that's pretty much anywhere you go. There are plenty of activities and social events to attend.

5 College Freshman

Majors: Very Happy – The Park School of Communications is one of the best communication schools around. There are many opportunities at your finger tips. You dive into your major your first semester of freshmen year with hands on experiences and projects. Also the professors all come from amazing places and have great backgrounds working in the industry.

Scholarships: I applied for many scholarships, they help a lot when it comes time to pay for college.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: Very Available – There is many options for off campus housing. Ithaca College also has housing on campus for the majority of it's students, not just underclassmen.

3 College Freshman

Campus Dining: Terrace Dining Hall my friends and I treat like we are dining out. Campus Center is the most convenient however they have the most limited options. Also that is the best place to see friends. The Towers is great for late night especially taco tuesday.

3 College Freshman

Weather: It is Ithaca but so far the snow has not been bad. It rained a lot the first few months, basically every other week.

3 College Freshman

Parking: Parking for freshmen sucks because it's in the farthest lot and it is crazy expensive. However, after the first year you can park wherever.

3 College Freshman

Computers: Get to printing on campus early in the morning for projects. Resnet (the wifi) is okay in the dorms once you get it started. However service on campus is pretty decent. Macs are by far the computer of choice.

3 College Junior

Campus Housing: Great People. Less Than Great Dorm Spaces. Live Off Campus After Year 1. I lived in the towers my first year, and while the living experience was a bit subpar, the people I met there were completely incredible. I'm even engaged to one of them.

3 College Junior

Diversity: there is little diversity, and people tend to isolate themselves due to the cold winter months

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: Right Off Campus – A fair number of juniors and seniors live in houses just off campus on South Hill, and there tend to be parties in these neighborhoods a lot of the time. They appear a bit run-down. Anyway, moving off campus is never really necessary.

5 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: Great Variety. Ithaca is a good place to be a foodie. There are plenty of typical college kid eateries (pizza/ sandwich/ wings places), great fancier restaurants in the area, Moosewood, a famous vegetarian restaurant, and if all else fails, there are always chain restaurants like Friendly's and Chili's.

3 College Sophomore

Transportation: Bring a Car – There's always the Tcat (relatively unreliable bus), taxis (practical but expensive) and green hornet (shady party van) for going out, but otherwise, I'd recommend bringing your car if you can. To get back home, there's a small airport in Ithaca, and there are distance buses that run to popular regions.

When students are asked to evaluate their overall experience at IC, they often look at the lessons they learned both inside and outside of the classroom. Students who go beyond the social aspect of college and get involved end up both gaining the most experience and having the most fun. Many students love IC because of its size. Sometimes, it’s hard to walk anywhere on campus without bumping into someone you know. With such dreadfully cold winters, the academic programs and well-organized student groups are the main reasons students come back every year. Also, the great size allows students to connect with other students in their majors and their professors/advisers, as well.

Like many things in life, students’ experiences with IC are simply what they make of them. If you sit in your dorm room for four years, you will be miserable. If you experience the life Ithaca has to offer and go outside of your comfort zone, you most likely won’t regret your decision to attend IC. The school’s high retention rate proves this. IC offers a great mix of academics and everything else college life should offer—friends, fun, professional opportunities, active campus life, and a time to learn and grow.
