Campus Dining: Very difficult if you have allergies or specific dietary needs. I have a lot of allergies and constantly have to buy my own food at Wegmans while still paying a lot of money for a meal plan I dont use because you are required to have one when you live on campus.

Off-Campus Dining: Great restaurants all over Ithaca! A lot of options to order in as well.

2 College Sophomore

Computers: There are a good amount of computers and labs if you know where to find them. However the internet is TERRIBLE. Unreliable and slow.

4 College Freshman

Facilities: We are the only school that offers the major "Communication management and design"

4 College Freshman

Facilities: Overall the facilities are really nice, but it depends on the building.

Weather: Summer, sunny and 80s. Winter, dark and teens. If you don't mind cold and winter, definitely a positive.

3 Recent Alumnus

Computers: The computers themselves are fine, run well and have a variety of software you can use. The only reason for a C is the wifi is absolutely HORRID. There are times when you can't even reach the internet without going to the library lab computers.

Facilities: The scenery in fall and summer are unmatched. The view over Cayuga Lake, and all of the gorges to explore makes it almost seem like a vacation.

5 Recent Alumnus

Off-Campus Dining: There are a lot of good restaurants off campus down in the Ithaca Commons and in Collegetown by Cornell

Weather: I find it extremely gloomy! From November to March the sun hardly ever comes out. March 5 was the first time in the Spring semester that I saw blue skies. This is partly due to the lake effect. During the winter, it snows practically every day or every other day. Rain is quite frequent. The temperatures get bone-cold. However, it is beautiful here in the summer and early fall, especially with our view of Cayuga lake.

Guys & Girls: A lot of athletes, one of the most physically fit campuses in the US (80% of the student body hits the fitness center at least once in the year). Overall, a lot of hot girls and guys, theater students generally known to be less good looking

Campus Housing: The dorms are functional and there are a lot of options. Everyone seems to have a different preference as to where they want to live and what they want to be near which is really nice. Upper classman dorms are great: I would recommend a circle or garden apartment. It is very spacious and practical. It is a nice step between dorm life and having to learn to deal with renting off campus. Seniors can go off campus and save a little money, but the on campus apartments are so convenient, I don't think it would matter too much.

3 College Senior

Campus Strictness: Most offenses having to do with drinking/drug use are a slap on the wrist. Also very easy to have charges dropped. Judicial affairs is more strict about academic honesty.
I feel like I have had more of an issue with parking tickets than getting in trouble with police, etc.

4 College Freshman

Majors: I love the business school and all of the great opportunities offered!

3 College Freshman

Weather: Ithaca is cold! In the warmer months campus is absolutely beautiful, but that doesn't last long. I personally think snow is awesome though, so I don't mind that. It is a bit annoying when it's cold and windy with no snow, though.

3 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: Don't get caught; you'll be fine. Since there's no greek life, parties are usually off campus or in on campus apartments. Circle Apartment parties get busted pretty quickly.

Campus Housing: I love living on campus at Ithaca college. The food is good, there's always something going on around, and i live in a dorm with over 300 people in one tower. The only problem i have is the modernity of the dorms. The dorms are very small, especially in Towers, and the facilities are not well kept up.

Scholarships: I received a large amount of financial aid from the college. However, i struggled with surprise fees and forms that they required me to fill out, and with little warning put holds on my account, restricting me from class registration temporarily.

3 College Junior

Campus Dining: You can eat at Towers, Terraces, and the Campus Center. I believe Towers is the best because you can order what you want to eat and you can go to "late night" which runs from 8 pm to midnight. Overall the food is alright here. Nothing bad, nothing great.

Majors: There are many different majors to take at Ithaca College (some I didn't even know existed!). Ithaca College was also very accepting of my transfer credits which very much impressed me.

4 College Senior

Facilities: The gym has very flexible hours and they have many different types fitness groups (yoga, zumba, etc) and equipment to fit everyone's needs. There are three dining halls (I work at one!) and the food is great. Overall everything is clean and everything is accessible!

4 College Senior

Parking: Other than I think it is ridiculous that you should have to pay for parking (however I have learned it is considerably cheaper than Cornell!) considering the price paid for tuition the parking is great. I have never not been able to park and I am even able to leave my car on campus overnight.

4 College Senior

Off-Campus Housing: The prices are very reasonable if you take the time to actually look around. I found my place on Craigslist; it is only a room however I pay $450/month, all inclusive and I can have my cat here with me!

3 College Freshman

Computers: Computer Labs are very useful and are in good quantity except around midterms and finals when absolutely everyone has taken hold of a computer. Printing from these labs and the library is used very frequently and is quite reliable. Wireless access can be awful at times on laptops, but smaller devices can usually pick up the signal better. The school's contract with it's current Internet provider is soon to end though...

3 College Freshman

Weather: I am from Northern California and all I've heard from people is that it gets cold. I experienced my first sub-zero temperatures in January and I'm still here to tell people about it. Sometimes you have to walk outside when it's freezing cold and your hands hurt, but you just need to bundle up, wear layers, and walk a little faster. The snow is plentiful and beautiful. There is a great tunnel leading to most of the classrooms going from Campus Center Dining Hall to Dillingham Theatre. You just need to go from your dorm to the tunnel and you'll be fine! Invest in some good boots and jackets that'll last four years and you'll be set.

When students are asked to evaluate their overall experience at IC, they often look at the lessons they learned both inside and outside of the classroom. Students who go beyond the social aspect of college and get involved end up both gaining the most experience and having the most fun. Many students love IC because of its size. Sometimes, it’s hard to walk anywhere on campus without bumping into someone you know. With such dreadfully cold winters, the academic programs and well-organized student groups are the main reasons students come back every year. Also, the great size allows students to connect with other students in their majors and their professors/advisers, as well.

Like many things in life, students’ experiences with IC are simply what they make of them. If you sit in your dorm room for four years, you will be miserable. If you experience the life Ithaca has to offer and go outside of your comfort zone, you most likely won’t regret your decision to attend IC. The school’s high retention rate proves this. IC offers a great mix of academics and everything else college life should offer—friends, fun, professional opportunities, active campus life, and a time to learn and grow.
