Facilities: Something I really enjoy on campus are the organizations available to students. It is really easy to get involved on campus and get your voice heard. Being that it is a smaller campus, it is very easy to get to know many of the other students there and also easy to get personal help from a professor if you are struggling in a course, or just want to sit down and talk with them. The advising center is also excellent. However, it is sometimes hard to find social events to attend, a downside of such a small school.

Facilities: The atmosphere on campus is great and facilities are always clean. The library is excellent and has multiple floors which vary on noise level, making it easier to find a quiet space to study and get work done.

Health & Safety: I think the police presence on campus is great and they respond very quickly to any problems at hand and handle them very well. I feel safe at this school.

Campus Dining: The food is much better than I expected honestly.

4 College Freshman

Majors: I'm still doing gen ed courses.

Majors: I feel as the two internships I have had didn't provide me with real life experience. My previous jobs I have had before entering school were more fulfilling.

Academics: As an exploratory major, we get a lot of options and privileges that other majors do not such as choosing classes first and being able to take almost any class we want. However, since I came in exploratory, I was struck by not knowing the curriculum and what classes to take so that disastrously ruined my first semester, which lowered my GPA.

Academics: Learning a lot with very flexible professors who actually care about your education and well-being.

3 College Sophomore

Diversity: Veyr accepting, but, as always, there's an exception to main conservatives.

Off-Campus Housing: A lot of choices, but hard to get because there are A LOT of lease renewals.

4 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: A lot of great people that are open, but also there are others that need to be broken out of their shell and experience life.

Scholarships: Scholarships are granted a lot here at IC. All that's asked is to be a great student that you are supposed to be.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: Could be better, more natural choices.

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: There's always support and safety almost everywhere on campus.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: Lots of choices at a good price but could be way better. There's always room for improvement.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Just like any other college application.

4 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: sick college town, a bunch of cool stuff to do

2 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: campus pd sucks...it easy to avoid them if you have a good RA but when they make rounds youre f***ed

5 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: lots of good fastfood options to go with lots of cool unique restaurants in town

3 College Sophomore

Athletics: everyone goes to cortaca...besides that, no crazy atmospheres at any of the games

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: its what you make of it, embrace the dorm struggle

3 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: if you don't do drugs, the worst that will happed is that you'll smell some weed from time to time. If you love drugs, you'll find almost any..they aren't hard to find. If you just like to drink and smoke a little bit, you're golden

Campus Dining: very hit or miss, great options and quality some nights and the opposite other nights. Stick to Towers and terrace dining halls...campus center is not good

3 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Public safety are always around and are looking out for students. the only complaint I have is that students are discouraged from calling 911 in a medical emergency but are to instead call public safety and have they look at what has happened and they will call 911 but by then it might be too late.

When students are asked to evaluate their overall experience at IC, they often look at the lessons they learned both inside and outside of the classroom. Students who go beyond the social aspect of college and get involved end up both gaining the most experience and having the most fun. Many students love IC because of its size. Sometimes, it’s hard to walk anywhere on campus without bumping into someone you know. With such dreadfully cold winters, the academic programs and well-organized student groups are the main reasons students come back every year. Also, the great size allows students to connect with other students in their majors and their professors/advisers, as well.

Like many things in life, students’ experiences with IC are simply what they make of them. If you sit in your dorm room for four years, you will be miserable. If you experience the life Ithaca has to offer and go outside of your comfort zone, you most likely won’t regret your decision to attend IC. The school’s high retention rate proves this. IC offers a great mix of academics and everything else college life should offer—friends, fun, professional opportunities, active campus life, and a time to learn and grow.
