Student Body: I attend school online and do not go to the campus however, the majority of other classmates are younger than 30 yrs of age and a few minorities. Some of the students have families and others live at home with their parents. Many, I believe, have chosen the same degree program as I due to the "glory factor" of criminology not knowing that what is on TV is not "real life". They'll be in for a big surprise and might even change their educational goals if only they'd be introduced to the "real world" of this field rather than base their future on TV life.

Online Courses: I like traditional classes better than online. The workloading was hard, plus I had to keep my self focus on the deadlines. The only thing that I like about it was that I didn't have to go to college, I could do the work at home.

Campus Resources: Our online resources have been particularly helpful.

Student Body: There's a diverse population of students. In my experience, they are focused & goal-oriented.

Student Body: For such a small town, the student body is much more diverse than I expected it to be. Students are also there for several different reasons, unlike a university where most of the students started college immediately after high school. I've seen people from early teens (because of the early college high school there) all the way up to middle-aged.

Academic Experience: The registration process is very simple, especially because the Advising Center is a huge help. I have been to the Advising Center several times, and have registered for all of my classes there, and they have helped me throughout the whole process.

Academic Experience: I am enjoying the program I am in, and there is a nice variety of classes to choose from. The only problem is that there is not so much variety in each individual semester. Some classes in the catalog have not even been offered once since I have been in this school, and I will be graduating next semester. That's the only problem I have come up with, because the rest has been pretty simple and straightforward.

Career Services: I never graduated from here, but I think that if I were to have a specific major related to a job, I would find one quite easily.

Academic Experience: I think that the way that the professors work with the students is quite amazing. From my experience, I have never had a professor that, when explained the problem, did not help me find a solution.

Academic Experience: I do not have a specific major here, but in every class, I have found that the professors do what they tell you they will do.

Overall Experience: I am pretty happy with my college experience. Everything here is what it is supposed to be, from the students to the faculty to the classes to whatever else. The main focus, though, is that I get what I am here for: an Associate of Arts degree. Where that is concerned, it is coming off without a hitch and I should be graduating at the end of this year exactly when I originally expected to with my degree in hand.

Online Courses: A Lot Different – The workload for most online classes is either one of two things: 1 tiny assignment for the week or a fair amount more than face to face classes since there are no actual lectures. They get the job done, though, and in some cases I even prefer taking classes online.

Campus Resources: Resources Abundant – My school has everything from a student center to a library to various campus activities, and even days set aside throughout the year just for campus activities. There is always something to do on campus, or somewhere to go if you don't really want to participate anything.

Career Services: How Much Better Can They Get? Do a wonderful job in supporting the students. They try to help find what would work best for you in every situation.

Campus Resources: Computers Do Everything They're There for – The college library has a whole wall full of computers, and there is usually at least one open. When all of them are full, however, librarians monitor what they are being used for and put people school-related work first. There are a couple of computers that are agonizingly slow, but most of them just pop right up and provide exactly what is needed. Printing is also available, and cheap too. In addition to the library, there are at least one or two computer labs across campus, so there should always be access to a computer.

Tuition & Financial Aid: Smooth and Painfree – The financial aid process is really smooth. There are several opportunities for financial aid even if not at the federal level, and college also good at communicating with the students about everything involved. They really work with students to ensure that they get the most help possible from a financial standpoint. I definitely think the education is worth the money.

Online Courses: Taking an online course has its up and its downs. You can watch, listen to, and email instructors on their lectures. Even though they are not right by your side they are always just an email away. They usually require more assignments to insure the students understanding of that subject. They also provide chat rooms for students to brainstorm, study, and interact with other students in that online class.

Overall Experience: Grateful to Get an Education – There are outstanding teachers and administrators. Nonetheless I have found some critical courses for my particular degree lacking in the appropriate teaching of basics due to the teacher having too many courses to teach, too many administration duties to preform,... simply overwhelmed and understaffed. Too much attention to the student being present(ie, grade points taken off for being late) yet not enough actual teaching taking place. So the student shows up and struggles to learn on their own, doing work that they could do on their own by purchasing the Adobe textbook, a Mac and the Adobe programs...maybe better because the Adobe textbooks are difficult to understand, a better textbook choice could be made, especially since the students are left to struggle through on their own. A good exercise for teaching the student to be on time for a job, but the job will not last long if the student only knows vaguely what they are supposed to know by the time they graduate. As far as the actual art classes are concerned; what's the point of a drawing class if not one basic of drawing is taught. How can the student register for a drawing class at another school and tell them they were not taught even the basics of drawing in their previous drawing class? Instead of doing graphic design work the student will end up painting walls...but they will be on time!

Overall Experience: It's Great – I love that my college has put instucting their students to achieve the goals that we have set out to achieve for ourselves. Placeing the student needs first, and our grades next. If I had to do it all over again, I would have came to Isothermal Community College sooner.
