4 College Freshman

Nightlife: There's always something going on on Friday and Saturday nights. From late night at the MU where there are games and sometimes entertainers to movie nights in Carver where the school gets movies before they go out on DVD free to students. The late night CyRide runs late into the night free for students that can be tracked my mobile phones and shelters. Many local businesses are open late and there are many food joints around on Lincoln Way and Welch Ave only a few feet from campus.

4 College Junior

Nightlife: There are various bars that one can attend at night, all of them mainly on Welch Avenue. That is really convenient because we have some of the best bars close to each other on one street. There are other places where one could go, such as house parties. During Veishea for example one can practically walk on the streets around campus and find parties everywhere!

3 College Sophomore

Nightlife: Greek parties get busted to often and are to exclusive

College Junior

Nightlife: I don't go out in campus town. Although I have been to VEISHA a couple of times. It is fun.

5 College Freshman

Nightlife: Anytime, anyplace. No matter what night of the week, there is always something going on.

Nightlife doesn't really come alive for ISU students until the magical day when they turn 21. Until then, Iowa State students just don't have a lot to do, in terms of clubbing and bar-hopping, unless they go to Iowa City or Des Moines. But there are plenty of parties around, and the social scene is definitely alive. There are things to do if you are not 21—you just have to look a little harder for them.

For students who aren't as comfortable with the bar scene, activities and concerts in the Memorial Union are available, and there are always movies to see at one of the movie theaters. The dorms clear out a lot on weekend nights, with students either going home or going to parties. So, if you don't party, find others who don't either, and get together and watch movies or play games. Otherwise, weekends can get really lonely. For most students, though, nightlife is just fine. Students who are 21 seem to be very satisfied with the nightlife in Ames. If you enjoy rowdy parties, Iowa State is right up your alley!
