3 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: Many guys and girls at my school are preppy and stuck-up. There are a few that aren't. I don't always feel comfortable around just anyone.

Iowa State's students tend to be casual in their dress and manners. With more than 20,000 undergraduate students, it is not difficult to find good-looking guys and girls. For the most part, the students are described as pretty cool. Some complain that many students blend together as they dress and act similarly, but there are always exceptions. The girls are described as less approachable than the guys, but overall, the feedback on guys and girls is good.

Girls definitely have the advantage of selection at Iowa State. With an awesome guy-to-girl ratio that is enormously in the girls' favor, the women of Iowa State can have their pick of some good-looking guys. In general, the girls seem more satisfied with the selection of guys at Iowa State than the guys are with the selection of girls. But the guys don't have things too bad. The women are pretty easy on the eyes. Iowa State University is large enough to have something for everyone, and you're bound to find a hottie or two, whether you're a guy or a girl. If you're looking for romance or just looking for someone you can have fun with, you can find it at Iowa State University.

Social Scene
Iowa State is large enough that the Greek system does not dominate the social scene for people who are not Greek, nor is Iowa State composed of obnoxious hierarchical cliques. Instead, Iowa State's social scene is exactly what you make of it. No one group really dominates over the others, thanks in part to the University's large size. With that being said, it is easy to find things to do with people you like, and for most students, that's what it's all about. Students are really friendly and approachable, for the most part. You can meet people in classes, working out at the rec, or in restaurants or bars in Campustown. It's a big enough campus that even if someone rejects you, there are still 10,000 other members of the opposite sex.
Hookups or Relationships?
There's a mixture of both at Iowa State—it all depends on what you're looking for. And if you look hard enough, you'll find it at Iowa State. Keep in mind, though, that men outnumber women on this campus. However, Iowa State has many types of people and personalities, so students are bound to find a niche, both for those who really want a relationship, or for those who just want to have a no-strings-attached good time.
Dress Code
There really isn't one at ISU. Students wear whatever feels comfortable to them. This is Iowa, so you'll see your share of Wranglers, boots, and cowboy hats. But not everyone dresses like that. The majority of students wears jeans and T-shirts, but some dress up more, and some dress down more. You'll see a wide range of clothing styles—anything goes on this campus.
