Computers: sometimes difficult to use a computer on campus

4 College Sophomore

Computers: The majority of the computers on campus are in good condition and have current programs on them so that I can effectively do my homework and projects on them. There are a few that are a little slower, but for the most part, the computers overall are excellent.

Computers: For specific classes, you will need to use the computer labs to access programs. However, some of the software can be purchased, for a large discount, and be used on your own laptop. I would highly recommend bringing your own computer.

4 College Student

Computers: With labs around campus and students using personal computers, then it allows all students to get things done

3 College Freshman

Computers: The wifi is finicky and can be very slow

Computing at ISU is amazing. Whether you have a computer for work, play, or both, ISU has the Internet connection you will need to make your computing dreams come true. Students seem to be extremely satisfied with the number of labs on campus, the quality of the computers available, and the accommodations made for those who wish to bring their own computers.

"Convenience" seems to be the word on computers. Most students bring their own computers and would find them difficult to live without. It is not necessary to bring your own, however. Sometimes the computer usage in dorm rooms can become ridiculous, with roommates chatting online while sitting in the same room, or chatting with the person next door to discuss what time to go to dinner. If you tend to procrastinate or really rely on your computer, bring one. Iowa State offers as much or as little computer interactivity as the students choose, offering high-tech capabilities, as well as the bare essentials. Whether you choose to bring a computer from home or rely on one of the hundreds of computers on campus, all students get by.
