3 College Sophomore

Nightlife: They need more bars, but others are a cheap taxi ride away. I go to NYC at least once a month for nightlife

3 College Freshman

Nightlife: The bar/club scene is very big; however, that is only because the very few house parties that are thrown usually get broken up by the police. Transportation is pretty convenient when needed.

Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The nightlife near Iona is not very vibrant. Basically, there is one bar within walking distance. Students go to nearby Fordham for parties, as it is a short train ride away. There are also a few spots in downtown New Rochelle, but these are not always the places to go. House parties thrown by off-campus students typically happen and are not bad. They can be fun, but easily get broken up due to cops and neighbors. To figure out where a party is going on, it is important to be on the lookout or at the very least know someone that is running the party or a friend that keeps tabs on those things. With very few options in the surrounding area, students often end up taking the train to Manhattan. Here, students can choose from all of the bars and clubs they want. A downside is that it is more expensive to head to the city since you need to pay for the train ride and taxi ride if you have no car.

If students are not looking to have a night where they can get wasted, there is also an entertainment complex downtown, which has things such as movies, miniature golf, and an arcade. It is also common for students to hang out in small groups with their friends in the dorms. Many times, this is good enough, as students look to hang out on campus and not worry about going out and spending too much money. With Iona being situated so close to New York City, you cannot really complain too much, but it is a struggle in New Rochelle, considering there are not may spots from which to choose.
