The food at Iona is not bad at all, but at the same time, it's not amazing. For students, the biggest concern isn't the repetition of dishes, but rather the price of food. Students get charged ridiculous amounts of money for food and drinks that are already overpriced in the first place. Even though a lot of people at Iona start out with a high amount of meal plan points, students do run out of money. Males tend to run out quicker than females, who usually end up having money left over. It is common for students to buy each other meals if a person runs out of money. The main dining hall, Vitanza Commons in Spellman, has the best options for lunch and dinner. Here, students have the most variety; from sushi to burgers, there is almost anything from which to choose.
If students get tired of dining hall food, Quiznos is on the meal plan. Again, this is nice, but it is also expensive. The food may not get overwhelmingly good reviews, but Iona is honestly trying. There are comment cards students can fill out and then receive a response from the dining services. If students continue to share their suggestions, there certainly will be hope for improved food, but the main concern is price, which seems like it will never go down.
