Campus Dining: there should be more variety and better quality

4 College Freshman

Campus Dining: Good on campus selections and even better off campus selections

4 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: There are a variety of options when it comes to eating. The cafeteria has great food but there are local places around the campus that take the meal card. There is a quiznos and Starbucks on campus!

3 College Freshman

Campus Dining: For someone who wants to major in recreation and fitness, the school definitely needs more options when it comes to healthy organic food. They only place where I go to eat that is enjoyable is Red Mango for smoothies and Rocbody Cafe. The salad's on campus definitely are not the greatest.

4 College Freshman

Campus Dining: There are countless amounts of dining options on and near campus. Iona offers a variety of foods for every craving. If you choose not to dine on campus, there is a local diner, whose food is very good, a Dunkin' Donuts, Little Ceasars, KFC, Applebee's, Buffalo Wild Wings, Chinese restaurants, pizza restaurants, and so many more food establishments located near the campus.

Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The food at Iona is not bad at all, but at the same time, it's not amazing. For students, the biggest concern isn't the repetition of dishes, but rather the price of food. Students get charged ridiculous amounts of money for food and drinks that are already overpriced in the first place. Even though a lot of people at Iona start out with a high amount of meal plan points, students do run out of money. Males tend to run out quicker than females, who usually end up having money left over. It is common for students to buy each other meals if a person runs out of money. The main dining hall, Vitanza Commons in Spellman, has the best options for lunch and dinner. Here, students have the most variety; from sushi to burgers, there is almost anything from which to choose.

If students get tired of dining hall food, Quiznos is on the meal plan. Again, this is nice, but it is also expensive. The food may not get overwhelmingly good reviews, but Iona is honestly trying. There are comment cards students can fill out and then receive a response from the dining services. If students continue to share their suggestions, there certainly will be hope for improved food, but the main concern is price, which seems like it will never go down.

Special Options
There are not many special options for students. Whatever is served in the dining halls is what students get. If students do have dietary concerns, management is willing to help out, and there are limited options on the menu for vegetarians. Students are also encouraged to fill out suggestion cards, and if enough people say something, they do listen.
Did You Know?
Students do not have to pay a tax for on-campus food when the meal card is used.
