Campus Housing: some rooms are very small.

Off-Campus Housing: I'm only a freshman and its unusual for us to live off campus

4 College Sophomore

Facilities: we have a great basketball team, only 20 minutes from the city, many opportunities in the business world

3 College Sophomore

Facilities: sometimes its a ghost town on the weekend.

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: great roommate, classes, people and location.

5 College Sophomore

Academics: Iona is known for its business program.

3 College Sophomore

Greek Life: Not too crazy, or snobby.

3 College Sophomore

Computers: I wish the connection was better. Even at the libraries or labs the computers are very slow.

4 College Sophomore

Diversity: I enjoy the diversity. There are many international students, which I enjoy

4 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: The college is a 5 minute drive to the train station and only 20/30 minutes to NYC.

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: At least I have a scholarship with Iona College. Financial aid is still necessary and I make do.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: I have been written up once for something pointless. It is very difficult to enjoy yourself in the dorms

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: I am very excited to live off campus next semester. It will be less convenient being farther from school, but there is more freedom and space.

3 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: The neighborhood around my campus is not the best. The locals are very annoying and the campus is also near the local high school

4 College Sophomore

Majors: I love my Mass Comm major, but am dissapointed that my adviser is retiring.

3 College Sophomore

Majors: The criteria is decent a decent gpa. The college makes you choose a major by the end of sophomore year. It is very easy to change majors.I am trying to double major and it is pretty simple

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: The housing is convenient and social, but restricting in many ways.

3 College Sophomore

Nightlife: They need more bars, but others are a cheap taxi ride away. I go to NYC at least once a month for nightlife

4 College Sophomore

Athletics: Our school is Division I and very well-known for our basketball team. Basketball games are very involved and many support the teams.

3 College Freshman

Weather: same as new york, basic seasonal weather, typical

2 College Freshman

Parking: NEED MORE PLACES TO PARK

2 College Freshman

Campus Dining: there should be more variety and better quality

4 College Junior

Overall ExperienceWhat's This?

The best part of going to Iona is the small community you become a part of. There are so many benefits for students, due to the school's size and location. The small classroom sizes provide students with the opportunities to engage themselves in the classroom on a daily basis. Along with the chance to share personal thoughts in the classroom, students truly appreciate the professors they have had. What makes the professors so meaningful to them is the fact they actually know them by name and they truly believe in their immediate future upon graduating. Many students would choose to go to Iona again if they had a chance to do it over. This is not to say your four years as a Gael will be easy, as you are guaranteed to face many challenges of all sizes, but what makes Iona so special is the community that is there to support you.

If you are thinking about coming to Iona, be sure to be ready to do big things. Although the community and location are ideal, you will have to work. The opportunity for growth through student organizations on campus and the fact that New York City is nearby helps graduating students as they look to move on after college. Your experience at Iona is really judged by how willing you are to do your part. Iona may be the perfect fit for you if you do not want to feel out of place at a big school and are looking to improve or even challenge yourself as an individual.
