3 College Sophomore

Academics: The workload for my major is quite a lot, but I am learning how to balance and keep things on time and on track.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: I haven't applied for the program quite yet, but I have gone to an open house for my program where I learned a lot about my major.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: I love my major, and our school does a lot to help you understand and figure out everything you need to prepare yourself for that major.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: I love to eat, and there are a lot of my favorite options around campus!

4 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: I love IUPUI's campus. Indianapolis is a great area with lots to do. Shopping is a must for me, and there are a lot of stores that I regularly shop at!

3 College Sophomore

Greek Life: I have no clue about this. I have never heard of it.

4 College Sophomore

Diversity: I try to be very open minded when it comes to diversity. I am a religious person, but I do not try to argue with people about their opinions. I feel that everyone should have the right to choose who they want to be, and be able to do what they want.

3 College Sophomore

Athletics: The school spirit is very good. I hear a lot of students talking about athletics and what is going on around the school. Students are always involved and out getting others to participate.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: The dining hall for the campus is very clean and kept up. The selections are nice, and give a lot of variety. The staff for the most part is friendly. The value of the food is good, and they offer healthy choice options.

4 College Senior

Athletics: This school has the Olympic standard swimming pool. One of the best swimming pools I have ever been to.

3 College Senior

Campus Dining: When I was enrolled couple of years ago, there weren't that many of options in the dining area. I know they have more variety of options now.

5 College Senior

Academics: The school is resourceful and the professors are great and talented! Curricula are helpful when it comes to students' success.

5 College Senior

Academics: The school offers the best Forensic and Investigative Sciences Program! The school is resourceful and the professors are great and talented.

4 College Senior

Campus Strictness: The rules are reasonable and the values the school teaches are good for students.

Off-Campus Housing: It's downtown so the parking was pretty tight. The leasing office was bad when it comes to customer servicing.

3 College Senior

Campus Housing: I decided to live on campus because I did not know anyone when I was admitted to the school and I wanted to make some friends by living in the dorms. However, the social atmosphere is not as how I expected or how it was in the school I transferred from. Students are pretty "isolated" at the dorms and do not socialize as much as other campuses.

3 College Senior

Scholarships: I'm an out-of-state student so I did not get as much financial aid as I needed and I need to pay a big part of the tuition out of pocket.

3 College Senior

Guys & Girls: The type of guys and girls on campus is a large mix. We have all different types of people on campus and you could meet someone different everyday. Most the time the different groups of people stay within the same circle of friends and it is hard to branch out since everyone is comfortable with the friends in the group.

Campus Housing: Housing on campus is old for the dorms. But there are town homes and apartments also available which are a little bit nicer and have more space. Campus did just build a new freshman dorm with a new dining hall located in it. I believe that the apartments is the best option because you have your own bathroom and a shared kitchen with your roommates. The process of applying for housing is very simply and the convenience to campus is great because its such a short walk.

Overall Experience: my experience so far has been great I have meet many great people that I see has being life long friends. I have made connections with a lot of my professors that I still am in contact with even without being in their class. My favorite experience would have to be having a leadership class at a camp in Wisconsin. It was a great opportunity for me to meet new people and learn more about myself as a leader.

4 College Senior

Local Atmosphere: Living in Indianapolis is amazing there are so many local events that take place and also many national conferences are held here so every week something new is taking place. We also have great sports teams within the downtown area. We also have many different shopping centers and many different local shops as well.

4 College Senior

Off-Campus Dining: With campus being local so close to downtown there are many different dining options for students. The cost varies on where you're eating. Most of them are very reasonably priced and a lot of them offer a student discount with student ID. There is a large variety of dining options off campus. My favorite place is Scotty's Brewhouse on Monday nights all you can eat wings for only ten dollars.

3 College Senior

Facilities: Student life is nice on campus there are a lot of places to meet up and study or just hang out with friends. The majority of student life activities are put on my student housing so if you don't live on campus its hard to know about the events. Our student center is very nice there are many things to do there. Our library is one of a kind with tons of computer labs and many different resources available to students.

4 College Senior

Facilities: Some unique things on campus would have to be the five hospitals that are located on campus. This is great for students in the medical fields since there are some classes that actually go and work in the labs and with patients. Another unique feature would be our swimming pool it is the fastest pool in the United States and hosts many professional events. Also a semi professional soccer team plays on campus.

4 College Senior

Academics: The academics offered are great the classes are taught by professors that have experience in the field of study. The process of registration is very easy its all done online. If you have trouble advisers are always there to help. There are many study options on campus. one of the biggest would be studying abroad. There are hundreds of study abroad opportunities.

Overall, IUPUI has a lot to offer to a lot of different people. The diversity of students at IUPUI is an illustration of what the University has to offer. Everyone is catered to in some way, whether it is through ESL learning, studies abroad, 24-hour computer facilities, wireless access, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. service projects, resume assistance, and so much more. IUPUI may not be a traditional campus with frat parties and hookups, but students really seem to appreciate its function and purpose, which is to promote professionalism, diversity, and urban learning.

With praise comes the reality—students shouldn’t go to a college thinking that everything will always be great. As with any university, IUPUI has its major flaws. As far as the physical campus itself is concerned, athletic facilities are not yet to the standard that the students can accept, parking is way below the needs of the students, and campus food is not worth the paper plates that it is served on. Too harsh? Maybe, but through the student reviews, they have shown how much they truly value their school. The professors, overall, seem to be doing a nice job, and computer service is great at IUPUI. As long as you take the bad with the good, IUPUI will be, at least, a beneficial and educational experience for you.
