4 College Sophomore

Facilities: The science teachers are all amazing

College Sophomore

Campus Resources: I go to my classes and then work. I don't use the campus for much else.

2 College Sophomore

Campus Resources: I can use wireless on my phone and laptop... but as far as the web site that msot teachers post all the hmwk etc on it's about a 50/50 shot if itll be working. Same goes for registration time. Webpage isnt reliable in my opnion.

Academic Flexibility: Hard to find the right class times to get in electives that mean something to me as well as mandatory classes. With the confusing counselor its even harder.

2 College Sophomore

Academic Experience: Many of the classes I was steered to take by counselors are terrible. I am not gaining anything from them really, and its frustrating wasting money on gen eds that mean nothing.

2 College Sophomore

Academic Experience: There aren't a lot of class times available which is part of the problem. You may get stuck in a 3 hour night class at a campus you don't want to be at- or you have to take a crappy "elective" that you would never elect just to stay ont rack with credits

Tuition & Financial Aid: Not a lot of help from financial aid office. However the IHCC Scholarship Foundation is nice, and there are a few additional scholarships the website has links to. Bottom line at any institution is going to be the lower your EFC the more aid you may get.

Overall Experience: Small classes, however counselors and financial aid dont always seem on point. It's a small college- they should be more on top of their game and helpful. This is the only school in the area, and the price is okay for a community college. Would not have been my first choice had I lived in the Des Moines/ Iowa City/ Or Quad Cities areas.

2 College Sophomore

Facilities: This feels like a small high school campus.

College Sophomore

Online Courses: Have not taken a purely online class here.

Student Body: There really isn't much diversity in southern Iowa, thus the lack of diversity at IHCC. Especially at the campus' other than Ottumwa.

3 College Senior

Student Body: There is some diversity but not a gigantic amount. There is a multicultural club and a lgbt club as well. Diversity is pretty well accepted here.

3 College Senior

Academic Flexibility: There are only classes Monday through Thursday, and most of the classes are during the day. There are not many options at night so if you have a day job you might find it difficult to hold the job and go to school.

2 College Senior

Tuition & Financial Aid: The financial aid office isn't very good at what they do, both years I have had issues with them my first term. When you go in make sure you are firm and get definitive answers from them on deadlines and what you need to do.

College Senior

Career Services: I have no information about this at all so I'm leaving it blank.

3 College Senior

Facilities: They offer some good programs, I've heard that a lot of the programs in the ATC are very good.

3 College Senior

Campus Resources: I really liked the gym in the Hellyer Center and the new one in the Net Center. There aren't many campus activities. The Pit is a good place to meet up with friends or just to sit and waste time.

2 College Senior

Campus Resources: There is only one lab, it is in the library. The availability of printing is great, you can print as much as you need with no charge. The networks reliability and speed are not the best. Their wireless access on campus is not the best either.

3 College Senior

Online Courses: I only took one online course, it was nice and the workload was very light but the teacher helped whenever help was needed. She also made sure to remind us of her office hours whenever we had anything due.

3 College Senior

Academic Experience: I'm just working to get an AA and I have found the classes to be interesting.

3 College Senior

Academic Experience: There isn't a lot of options in classes every term. Some of the teachers are more into there classes than others.

Student Body: Diversity isn't very good. It's a rural midwest area, and that's where almost all of the students come from. There are a few asian transfer students and the athletic department is known for traveling to Chicago, etc. to recruit directly from the streets which is great, but that's about as much color as you'll see in this area. The student body is a bit more diverse than the surrounding community, but not by much. It seems to lack the large hispanic population that the surrounding area has though.

Religious, political and social topics are about as you'd expect from a white rural population, although being a college it's a little better than the town overall. There is an LGBT/GSA club recently renamed the Allies for Equality who will have your back for just about any equality-based cause, and a scant few courses you can take on world religions and cultures.

Facilities: Culinary Arts program means there is a relatively nice cafeteria and variety of foods. Grounds and dorms are nicer than they used to be and the older buildings are being renovated. Computer labs could be a bit nicer. The theater is decent, and the performing arts programs are just okay, although stay away from Dave Sharp. He and his family are pretty well known for being arrogant blankety blanks, completely full of themselves with no respect for anyone else, especially students.

Academic Flexibility: Very inconvenient when it comes to attendance. Grading on attendance is strictly forbidden, but professors do it anyway through pointless quizzes and other means just to get you in the seat. I learn very quickly and best on my own, and I wish I could have done my work, studied, and showed up only for the lectures that I needed help with. To me, sitting through every lecture for every course is a terrible waste of my time, particularly when I'm essentially graded on attendance!
