4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Living in the dorms is a great way to get involved in the community, however we would all love to have our own space in an apartment. It's pretty expensive to live in the dorm due to the cost of living plus dining center packages. Definitely cheaper to live in an apartment. The housing process is super easy and convienent though.

Off-Campus Dining: Most of the restaurants are chain restaurants such as Noodles, Potbelly, Chipotle, Meatheads and McDonalds but there are also a few smaller places that are native to Normal such as Avanti's and Mary Ann's Diner. Most of these places are affordable for college students but the only places open late are the diner and McDonalds. The best place to eat is by far Mary Ann's because they have a large variety and are affordable.

4 College Sophomore

Athletics: The gym is large and has great lifting machines

3 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: The security in my eyes is adequate because I really haven't heard of many incidents occurring.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: The quad is beautiful and the architecture of the buildings are phenomenal

4 College Sophomore

Transportation: The method of transportation is great with an amtrak station only minutes away

3 College Sophomore

Diversity: The campus is somewhat diverse

5 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: Normal is a great town to be located in. It offers a lot to the college students.

3 College Sophomore

Diversity: There is a great deal of diversity here and instances of intolerance are few and far between.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: The quality of the College of Business Staff is great. The opportunities available are amazing.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: I would choose to be an Accounting major again and I have some concern about finding a job in the future, but I am confident that ISU will help me through that process.

College Sophomore

Greek Life: I have no experience with Greek life at ISU.

2 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: I think that ISU could enforce drug and drinking laws much better and have never heard of a parking ticket being issued despite common violations.

3 College Sophomore

Athletics: I don't take part in any campus sports, but they seem very popular and intramurals are very common.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: The quality matches the cost very well. There are options available at both ends of the spectrum.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: The campus housing is fine, but could do better at enforcing the rules that they put in place.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I really enjoy ISU and the people and teachers here.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: Many good items available and with a meal plan they are at a fair price. Flex Dollars are very useful to have for the Subways within the residence halls

4 College Sophomore

Academics: The College of Business at Illinois State offers many amazing opportunities for the students both in and out of the classroom.

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: The school offers many good scholarships, but I feel that it should promote them more so that they can be found by the students more easily.

3 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: I know that drug use takes place but I keep away from it and it doesn't affect me personally very much.

3 College Student

Off-Campus Dining: There are many places to eat off-campus both walking distance and/or less than a 15 minute drive. I think there is a variety of places to eat that are less than a 15 minute drive, but there needs to be more variety that is walking distance: more than just Subway and Jimmy Johns.

3 College Student

Campus Strictness: I am aware that there are certain school policies, but I think that most students ignore them and continue on with what they feel they need to do whether it is legal/illegal or right/wrong.

4 College Student

Majors: I am happy with where I am. The dance program is amazing, and I feel that it will prepare me for the real world in the future!

4 College Student

Majors: I did not find it difficult for me personally to get admitted into the dance program. Since I auditioned for the dance program a semester later, I already got to know the professors (who were the audition judges), and they already knew my personality and how I worked. So, I do believe that how you project yourself before an audition/application plays a huge role.

Illinois State University holds a dear place in most of its students' hearts, due to the care and help the University provided them along the way. ISU wants to see all of its students succeed and does its best to make that happen. Therefore, the University equips students with learning tools so they can become their very best. ISU is home to some of the most proficient and helpful professors, and the relationship between teacher and student is one that has been praised. Students know their professors care about them, and professors know how important real-life advice is to students. The students have the will to learn, and the teachers provide the necessary tools for the real world after college. This relationship is very powerful, and one of the main reasons students would recommend ISU over any other college.

The University also helps with available internship opportunities and career advice, which is what makes ISU different from many other colleges. When students graduate, they are able to fill up their resume with corresponding professional experience they maintained while attending classes. The Career Center also provides students with real-world advice by hosting mock interviews that allow students to know what employers are looking for when they hire people. There are a number of career and internship fairs that let students hand out their resumes to potential employers and also allow students to see what kind of opportunities are out there. The University encourages each student to grow as an individual, and students flourish at the fact that they are treated like young professionals rather than children. From the outside, ISU may seem like the typical state school, but once you are here, you realize the unique character it possesses. Students are proud to say that they are from Illinois State University.
