5 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: There are a lot of off-campus housing choices available. Students often live in apartments with 2-3 others at reasonable rates. I feel like availability can be a little shaky at times. Pros include the fact that most housing is about a 5 minute walk from the train station, and about a 1 minute walk from the bus stop.

Off-Campus Housing: Chicago has a lot of options. The location of the main campus is close to the lake, so there are housing options that provides views of the lake. Chinatown is also close to the campus. Depending on amenities the cost maybe a concern however with those amenities usually comes an increase in security. It will be a balancing act. Each neighborhood has its own unique identity.

Off-Campus Housing: Off campus housing seems to be good. Most friends that are off campus enjoy their housing and always have nothing but positive things to say.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: There are a few apartments just south of the campus. I know people that live in bridgeport which is just across the Dan Ryan expressway. Fraternities and Sororities are on campus. I personally have not had a problem with safety, but I know others who have.

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: Pros: More space and less expensive.
Cons: Gotta cook your own food!
Landlords: Tricky, have things written and take pics of place before moving in.
Parking: Street parking is available and close to classes.
Safety: High. Still walk in groups esp after 5PM
People are friendly in general and open to help. IIT gives a vibrant college experience and is full of life! It is a happening university. So don't go on it's size.
