5 College Senior

Nightlife: Always a party, especially with the greeks and party promoter groups. The nightlife is one of the best I think a college kid can experience because D.C. is a lively city!

4 College Sophomore

Nightlife: Nightlife at Howard is a big part of the culture after a long day of classes going out with new friends is what the doctor ordered. Most students take the bus or the metro to get around.

Nightlife: Howard is definitely a party school.

4 College Freshman

Nightlife: Freshman and sophomore year I did the nightlife thing and it was great for what it was. I went to different nightclubs; the key is getting on the guestlist. Email them in advance (don't do that text alert thing because it rarely works) and make sure you have extra cash on hand just in case. Prices for entrance is extremely expensive during peak events (Freshman Week, Homecoming, etc.); note to all incoming Freshman...do NOT pay $20-40 to get into a club during your orientation week. It's not worth it! House parties and dorm/apartment kick-backs tend to be the better option. They are in walking distance, a lot cheaper, and tend to be more fun.

Nightlife: The social life at Howard University is absolutely amazing. There is a variety of social scenes for underage students to go and have an awesome time.

When night falls and it's time to get your party on, there are a few things to do on campus. Student organizations often host parties during the school year. Compared to other national universities, Howard is not that big of a drinking school. Now, that is not to say that HU students don't know how to have a good time. Dancing and socializing are definitely big, and most students do frequent a lot of hip-hop and dance clubs in the area, namely Love and Fur. Homecoming, which occurs every year in the third week of October, is a can't-miss event and has been known to draw hundreds of alumni and students from schools all over the country, especially other HBCUs. Even if you're not yet 21, you can still enjoy D.C.'s nightlife, because many of the clubs cater to those who are 18 and older on certain nights.

If you don't feel like partying, there's a still lot of stuff to do at night or during any other free time that you may have. For instance, several dance classes are available at HU (salsa, belly-dancing, line-dancing, and tango, just to name a few.) There is always something new to do on campus, and few grow tired of going out in the city. In fact, when students are about to graduate, they usually come to the realization that they've barely scratched the surface of things to do at Howard and in D.C.
