Campus Strictness: I think one of the main things that I find annoying about Hiram's strictness when it comes to academics is that attendance is a HUGE deal. It's only annoying because a lot of the things you could probably learn on your own but you can't do that. It's like high school all over again. Their strictness for noise levels are varied in each dorm, but it's usually fine. Some dorms are alcohol free too.

Campus Strictness: Hiram has a diverse as well as a productive environment which consistently maintains an expansive sense in protection, social responsibility, academic honesty, academic advancement, disability services and non-discrimination policies. Part of experiencing the college environment, there will be instances of students experimenting with substances. Being aware of this, the Staff as well as the security department maintains a watchful and thoughtful eye to maintain safety for all involved.

Depending on what angle you look at it from, Hiram can be pretty strict. The biggest issues the school has are with underage drinking and plagiarism. If you get caught doing either of these things, you will get massive repercussions. Alcohol violations get worse with each one you get and usually involve some kind of fine. If the police are involved, the consequences are much more severe. The College takes plagiarism most seriously. It can lead to an automatic failing grade in the course and even suspension. On the other hand, some students consider Hiram laid-back. There are no rules regarding when men and women can be in each other’s dorms, and if you are 21 or older, you are allowed to drink wherever. But if you do violate a rule, your case gets heard by student council before any sanctions are taken.

Students complain the most about alcohol strictness. It is possible for an underage drinker to get caught drinking and get fined by the school as well as the police. This is rare, but they take the issue seriously. The Residence Life staff does "rounds" on weekends to watch out for underage drinking, so it is possible that you will get caught if you drink. Still, enough people find ways to be calm and mature about alcohol. As long as you are not being disruptive, you will not likely get into trouble.
