Campus Strictness: Just behave as an adult and everything will be fine. Break the rules and you suffer the consequences. Consequences are reasonable.

Parking: No Issue If You've Ever Seen a State School – Some people who have never seen a state school complain that they have to walk more than 20 feet from their car to their dorm but you can always get a parking spot within a 2 minute walk of your dorm. I almost always park directly in front of my dorm. There is no cost for a parking permit, and the school allows for multiple vehicles (if you really need that). Tickets are not given out frequently, and parking is open except for a few spots (no faculty or student lots). Cars are not necessary although several people have them. There are also many that don't have them, particularly freshman (although they are allowed to bring them), and the school provides free transport to the mall, grocery store, shopping center, target, and airports all the time.

Off-Campus Dining: Not Necessary to Go to – There are several places close to campus to eat at, such as Chili's, Ham's, steakhouses, and fast food options. They are very affordable. It is really not necessary to go off campus to eat because the campus dining is good and provides lots of variety, plus you have a meal plan that makes it free.

Academics: Challenging Considering Entering Test Scores and Grades but Not Over the Top – At High Point University the academics are beginning to be more and more challenging. I was a little uneasy about coming here originally because my test scores and GPA were higher than the averages but those are rapidly increasing. I have been challenged in many of my general education classes, but they are not ridiculous.

Scholarships: I received a small scholarship from presidential scholarship weekend but after applying for FAFSA my scholarship money doubled. Also, by participating in activities such as cheerlading and dance team, students can earn small scholarship awards.

Overall Experience: Disneyization at It's Finest. High Point is like Disney World. It's creepily "extraordinary". Perfectly manacured lawns, delicious dining locations, beautiful fountains, and pools. High Point always has plenty of activities for their students. It is a very "greek" school and the greek life is phenomenal. All of the organizations are great. Housing is beautiful. I love it!

Health & Safety: Almost Too Safe – HPU is almost TOO safe. The security here is everywhere! Whether you want them there or not. It is sometimes unnecessary but you never need to worry about your safety. They are very willing to help and make you feel safe in a foreign environment.

Greek Life: Greek life is great but the school uses Greek like too much for their own needs and they dot help us out. They put too many rules on everything we do and want to know too much information

Off-Campus Housing: The school makes it almost impossible to move off campus

Nightlife: Greek and Occasional Bars – Typically fraternity parties are the way to go on friday and saturday nights, however some students go out to other dorms since most are apartment style. There are also a lot of people who go out to bars on thursdays.

Campus Housing: Campus housing is nicer than most hotels. High Point truly has the best student housing in the country.

Local Atmosphere: Furniture Market – Excellent for interior design majors, plenty of great places for internships and the furniture market allows students to earn up to 1000 dollars and additional experience for a week during fall break

Facilities: Extra Amenities for the Students – HPU gives us so much "free" stuff. Free movies, t-shirts, food, games, ect. It really opens up options for a boring afternoon or week night.

Campus Dining: Dining Is Okay – We have good food at the Point and Bakery but the cafeteria isn't anything special. There arent a lot of places to eat so the food options get boring and redundant.

Facilities: The facilities on campus are great and usable. Everything that they have on campus is for the students and looks great. Everything from the arcade, to the point, to the gym all have students in them all day and HPU provides students with that something extra that most colleges dont have.

Parking: Although people may have to walk a little ways the parking is generally good. As the school grows they need to keep in mind to expand parking options. Ticketing fines are too expensive, $30 tickets are not necessary, we're college kids and don't have much money and shouldn't have to pawn off tickets on our parents who already pay over $30,000 a year for us to even go there!

Campus Strictness: Way Too Strict – Experiencing the change over the past four years, campus security and student life has become increasingly more strict, it has hindered the students ability to enjoy college social life.

Transportation: Trolleys and Shuttles – There are trolleys and shuttles that run on a set schedule to and from campus to all of the dorms up the street. They have a shopping shuttle but they aren't very reliable or convenient. Aside from that, there isn't much transportation off campus.

Computers: There are so many different option on capus to use a computer. Almost every academic building has a computer lab that is open and available for students to use. There are two libraries that have computers, ready to print. I've never had to wait to use a computer.

Academics: Available and Willing to Help – I fell in love with HPU because of how welcoming and inviting the campus felt. Between the way the students interacted, the professors spoke with the students, and the campus itself there was nothing to not love. The students were always smiling, the teachers are so willing to work one on one with any student, and the overall campus is gorgeous.

Scholarships: Financial aid office is very helpful and glad to help you at any time!

Drug Safety: Drugs are on the campus but there is a 0 tolerance if caught which is good. There is not much peer pressure if you are an independent, I cannot say the same for greek life.

Overall, the HPU experience is nothing less than “extraordinary." Most students are happy to be attending such a fantastic school and are actually sad to be going home at breaks. The campus has such a welcoming atmosphere that students feel that they are at home no matter how far they have to travel to get there. Students become so involved with friends, clubs, sports, and organizations on campus that leaving all of that to go home is sad for a lot of students. When it comes to preparing students for the future, High Point gives them every opportunity, and all they have to do is take it. High Point produces well-rounded students who are prepared to enter graduate school or the job market as soon as they graduate. With a focus on a real world experience in the University's education, students leave HPU with the competence to jump into the workforce. Through internships and hands-on classroom work, students can feel confident they have the skills to succeed.

High Point is different from so many other schools because it is a small school with large-school facilities. The University has the resources of big schools, but the friendly and caring atmosphere and personal attention of a smaller institution. Professors know students by name and take an interest with what they are doing in and out of the classroom. High Point values a student's whole education, not what is just limited to the classroom. The professors and administration work on molding students not just academically, but also instilling in them a sense of generosity, self-awareness, and kindness toward their environment and fellow man.
