Facilities: There are always activities for students going on, greek life is very prominent and everyone is always involved in each other's philanthropy, and athletic games are fun, exciting, and free!

Guys & Girls: Social Butterfly – there is a variety of all kinds of people on campus and no one person is exactly alike which adds to the social life and possibility of beginning a relationship while on campus

Academics: Holistic Education – Great professors, helpful books and services, teaching beyond the classroom, 24/7 access to resources on campus

Academics: Growing to Perfection – I am very pleased with my experience in the Criminal Justice Major.I was given many opportunities that other school did not offer-such as ride a longs, being taught by law enforcement, etc. Now the program has added many hands on aspects that any future HPU will be pleased and honored to participate it.

Off-Campus Dining: There is not much of a night life or places to go off campus. There are some nice places but not like most public schools have.

Overall Experience: I love HPU. I wouldn't go any where else. I feel at home. I love the APO and the friends I have made through out it. Some of the people at HPU are stuck up more than other places. But overall everyone is nice.

Diversity: There is not much compared to a public school. High Point is mostly Caucasians, then African-Americans and very few other. The University says that we are very diverse but being a minority I am usually the only non white person in the class.

Health & Safety: Campus Security – HPU is very safe there is always someone within sight to make you feel safe

Scholarships: Hopefully More in the Future – HPU's Presidential scholarship program is great, but I do wish we had more options! The school is working on adding more, so I see a brighter future for students looking for financial aid soon. I highly recommend any student interested in HPU to consider the President Scholarship program. First off, its a great weekend of networking and meeting current students and professors. It is also your best chance to land a significant scholarship. VERY competitive though.

Weather: 4 Seasons, a Little Bit of Everything. High Point has great weather year-around. We get a little bit of all 4 seasons, which I like. That being said, winter is mild and snow is rare. (Though it is very fun on campus when it snows). Rain is only occasional and you can wear shorts deep into October. People are always hanging out outside when its nice, which is more often than not. The weather in the triad is very favorable... especially for all the northerners that come down south!

Off-Campus Dining: Good Local Options If You're Willing to Explore. There are a lot of good local restaurants off campus around HPU. I am interested in the restaurant industry so I am very picky about where I eat. Honestly, High Point has a lot of good quality places to dine out. You can chose from a great variety of sushi, Thai, burger/hot dog joints, steakhouses, Greek, sports grills, ect. The local food scene is surprisingly good. If you can't find your "place" in High Point; Greensboro is right down the road and Winston-Salem is an easy drive as well. I recommend checking out local favorites like The Dog House, Liberty, Thai Chiang Mai, US Sushi, Mad Greek Grill, or Carolina Diner. Many local restaurants offer great student discounts if you just show your Student ID. (or look for the HPU passport sticker in the window)

Facilities: A Lot to Do – There are many pools on campus as well as athletic centers. It's a very beautiful campus with a lot of greenery to lay out on, read on, and have picnics. There is an arcade room and many diverse places to eat.

3 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: Fair Amount of Attractions – The campus itself is closed in, like many campuses. However, there are trolleys that take you to stores around the campus if you do not have a car. The beach is very far away but there are lakes in Greensboro which is about 15 minutes away. There are also many shopping centers in the towns surrounding High Point.

Diversity: Somewhat Diverse – There is a good amount of diversity between a few races and religions but the school being in the south, the majority of religions are the same.

Parking: Beautiful Campus! A beautiful campus with lots of pkg. There
is a lot of traffic surrounding the campus.

Academics: A Strong Academic Program. High Point truly lives up to all of its promises. In my two and a half years at the school, I have felt challenged academically, inspired by my educators, and truly appreciated as a student. I have not once felt like a "number" at the school. The opportunities that have opened up to me in the future are numerous. High Point truly lives up to all of its promises. In my two and a half years at the school, I have felt challenged academically, inspired by my educators, and truly appreciated as a student. As a Human Relations Major, with a triple minor in Leadership, Nonprofit studies and Politics, I am quite involved academically. A strong advisor has helped me develop a program that allows for me to truly gain the best experience possible from High Point. I am a member of the honors program, and so I take one honors class a semester, which asks more of the student than the traditional class. Those who come to High Point looking to be challenged intellectually can absolutely do so.

Parking: Many people complain about the parking at High Point, however they fail to see the truth about the parking situation at the school. There is free parking offered to students (up to two cars) and there are parking lots conveniently located across the campus. Though, through its growth, High Point has faced some challenges with parking, the school offers a large additional parking lot across the street from the main campus. The students who complain about the parking situation many times are unwilling to use this large, available parking lot. A free trolley runs every 15-20 minutes from all University locations, so the complaints about parking for class are relatively unfounded.

Health & Safety: Security at HPU is incredible. As a 21 year old girl, I have never felt uncomfortable or unsafe at High Point. Security Guards are posted at all entrances of the school, there are gates surrounding the university, and there are blue phones located throughout the campus. Many reviews point out that the surrounding area is not safe, however High Point has taken every precaution to ensure that whilst on the campus, the students feel safe in their environment.

5 College Junior

Health & Safety: Security. End of Story – HPU has gates at each entrance that you must either show your school id to them or a car pass. They constantly have campus driving around, have a security number to call immediately for them. HPU is probably one of the safest schools around

4 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: High Point is a rather larger area so it contains all your major restaurants but also incorporates smaller businesses and chains that are a great variety

4 College Junior

Campus Dining: Always New Options – All the places around campus have good food. Each are pretty grouped together so you don't have to walk far. The choices you have are amazing also. Makes it hard to eat the same thing in one week!

5 College Senior

Health & Safety: Very Safe – Campus security makes me feel very safe. I have never felt safer the when I am at HPU. There are security contact centers at each building.

4 College Senior

Guys & Girls: Everyone at HPU gets along really well. A lot of people seem to keep to themselves, but when they interact it is a very friendly way.

4 College Senior

Scholarships: Process Could Have Been a Little More Organized. When I talked to someone about financial aid, I was pushed onto someone else, who then sent me to someone else. This was because I am an Evening Degree Program student. I suggest making sure that EDP students can be helped by anybody.

Overall, the HPU experience is nothing less than “extraordinary." Most students are happy to be attending such a fantastic school and are actually sad to be going home at breaks. The campus has such a welcoming atmosphere that students feel that they are at home no matter how far they have to travel to get there. Students become so involved with friends, clubs, sports, and organizations on campus that leaving all of that to go home is sad for a lot of students. When it comes to preparing students for the future, High Point gives them every opportunity, and all they have to do is take it. High Point produces well-rounded students who are prepared to enter graduate school or the job market as soon as they graduate. With a focus on a real world experience in the University's education, students leave HPU with the competence to jump into the workforce. Through internships and hands-on classroom work, students can feel confident they have the skills to succeed.

High Point is different from so many other schools because it is a small school with large-school facilities. The University has the resources of big schools, but the friendly and caring atmosphere and personal attention of a smaller institution. Professors know students by name and take an interest with what they are doing in and out of the classroom. High Point values a student's whole education, not what is just limited to the classroom. The professors and administration work on molding students not just academically, but also instilling in them a sense of generosity, self-awareness, and kindness toward their environment and fellow man.
