Greek Life: Greek life on campus is definitely a great thing to do. Most students to pledge greek, and then there are a good amount who don't. Regardless of what people do in regards to pledging, it doesn't affect friendships because people mix and everyone is generally pretty friendly.

Off-Campus Housing: I would never want to live off campus. The area seems unsafe to me.

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: There is a great health services facility on campus. It always is staffed by RN's and atleast one MD. There is also a regional hospital right near by that the school will transport you too, if need be.

4 College Sophomore

Transportation: They have trolleys and shuttles that run every 20 minutes. They are really fast and have a lot of stops so you aren't hiking all the way over to a stop. The only slight draw back is that they stop around 2am on weekdays, which is a struggle when you are at the library.

They are more then helpful if you need a ride to the airport for breaks and things, it is often free. Even if you blow a tire or you become stranded somewhere they will come and help you out.

4 College Sophomore

Diversity: In all honesty I first assumed there was going to be an extreme lack of diversity on campus. I expected everything to be very WASP-y, but it is totally untrue. I know and am good friends with people of all different races, ethnicities, and orientations.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: A lot of the freshman dorms here are better than upperclassman housing at other schools. They have everything from hall style to suites to apartments to 3-story town-homes. You can even get stand alone houses that don't cost any extra money.

Guys & Girls: Majority of the girls are snobby and the majority of the guys are jerks. The only people that are actually friendly are students that came here solely for sports since they are laid back and often came with a scholarship so they don't have a lot of money. These people are also hard to be around all the time since they are often busy with their sports and their teams. The people drawn to this school are preppy, snobby, materialistic kids who just came here because it is 'picture perfect'

1 College Freshman

Diversity: There is absolutely no diversity here. Sure they're are the occasional minorities but they're all here because of one thing: they have money.

4 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: This school is basically out to get you. I just got caught with a little bit of weed and now am facing 1000$ in fines and i have to take counseling as well as drug testing. If you like to have fun don't come to this school. Seriously pay attention to this if you smoke and drink this is not the school for you. Don't take this as an angry user who hates the school.

4 College Freshman

Scholarships: High Point goes out of their way to help you with financial aid and they offer numerous scholarships that are pretty generous and easy to accomplish. The biggest scholarship is the Presidential Scholarship.

Guys & Girls: Pretty average. It's really hard to find a good looking guy, not to be shallow. There's many cliques formed already from Summer Experience so everyone, even the guys, are entirely involved in their group of friends they made over summer.

3 College Freshman

Diversity: There are a lot of international students as well as students from North Carolina and all around the United States. I'm a freshman and I've mostly only met people from New England, Maryland, Virginia, and North Carolina, but there are others that I know that are from all over the place.

Scholarships: If you don't get the Presidential Scholarship in some form, then the university gives you very little financial aid, if any.

3 College Freshman

Diversity: Everyone is different but at HPU its okay to have different opinions, be a different race or whatever. They are groups of many different people but with a common interest and it works out.

Facilities: My school looks like no other school. I mean, what other university has an arcade, steak house, and sports bar?

Diversity: High Point University is a small school, most of the students coming from white, upper class families. We sometimes have a reputation of being stuck up and snobby.

Facilities: Appearance is a BIG deal at High Point University. The campus is immaculate! There is never any trash on the ground and everything is perfectly landscaped. The academic buildings are wonderful, with the majority of them being extremely modern. There are plenty of quiet study rooms, but they are hard to come by during finals and midterms.

Guys & Girls: I have a mixed review. I'll start with the positives, there a lot of different kids at HPU. A lot diversity. Which I am really surprised at. There are some really nice kids too! In particular I find the athletes nice and a lot of kids that work on campus nice too. There also a lot of nice looking girls here too! And a lot of them are nice. Well I said I would start out with the positive right haha, so here is the negative, there are also some extremely mean girls (I guess guys too but I haven't come across them). All of them are sorority girls too. I feel that the sororities in general talk a lot about people to be honest. And if a member of that sorority has good reason to dislike you or not, watch out, because girls team up. A lot will said about you and it will be mean. And I'm sure depending on the girl, not always accurate or at all anyone else's business.

Health & Safety: Despite being located near a dangerous neighborhood, campus is gated and extremely safe.

Guys & Girls: A lot of good looking girls, but not that many down home sweethearts. Not a good relationship setting

Majors: I am a biology Major and hopefully will be accepted the Veterinarian School next year. I feel that HPU does not spend enough money in this department to provide us with the most updated supplies. I am not concerned finding a job after graduation. HPU did not help me find the current job at a Vet Clinic. I feel because I had to basically do everything on my own, without the help and resources of the school, it actually in retrospect made me stronger and more independent!

Guys & Girls: The guys at High Point are very friendly. We have a variety of types such as preps to cowboys. The girls at High Point are for the most part pretty nice. We do have some snobs that are usually affiliated with the Greeks.

Computers: The computer labs are okay. Many times printers will be empty of ink for almost a week before a tech will finally put some more in. However, at least paper is always in stock. It is free to print as many black and white as you desire. The internet's network is exceptional.

Local Atmosphere: High Point offers a variety of cute little boutiques and restaurants. Everything is pretty close together. It is about 15 minutes from Greensboro, which has many nightlife attractions such as clubs, vibrant strips, malls, ext.

Overall, the HPU experience is nothing less than “extraordinary." Most students are happy to be attending such a fantastic school and are actually sad to be going home at breaks. The campus has such a welcoming atmosphere that students feel that they are at home no matter how far they have to travel to get there. Students become so involved with friends, clubs, sports, and organizations on campus that leaving all of that to go home is sad for a lot of students. When it comes to preparing students for the future, High Point gives them every opportunity, and all they have to do is take it. High Point produces well-rounded students who are prepared to enter graduate school or the job market as soon as they graduate. With a focus on a real world experience in the University's education, students leave HPU with the competence to jump into the workforce. Through internships and hands-on classroom work, students can feel confident they have the skills to succeed.

High Point is different from so many other schools because it is a small school with large-school facilities. The University has the resources of big schools, but the friendly and caring atmosphere and personal attention of a smaller institution. Professors know students by name and take an interest with what they are doing in and out of the classroom. High Point values a student's whole education, not what is just limited to the classroom. The professors and administration work on molding students not just academically, but also instilling in them a sense of generosity, self-awareness, and kindness toward their environment and fellow man.
