Campus Dining: We have an amazing selection of food places. From a sports bar type restaurant with bar food to a Panera like restaurant, as well as a Steakhouse!

Nightlife: There isn't a whole lot around the university, but there is always a lot going on on campus. Greensboro is also only 15 minutes away.

Academics: I've loved every second at High Point University. We have a great staff as well as a president who thinks very outside the box. Students input is not only valued but taken into serious consideration while making changes to the school.

Parking: While the High Point student body is growing year after year, the school has failed to expand it's parking, making it incredibly difficult to find parking.

Diversity: There is diversity on campus, but it is minimal in some aspects. Religion is diverse for the most part. Sexual orientation is undetermined. As for racial, economic background, and political beliefs, they stand in the same place. Most of the campus is white, in the upper-class, and conservative. Acceptance can depend on these factors.

Athletics: At High Point University Sports are a very big thing around campus. We have a great sports complex, as well as a swimming pool on campus. We also have a wonderful workout area, track, and work out classes that are available right on campus.

Health & Safety: I have never felt unsafe on the campus of High Point University. There are security guards at every entrance. They are suspicious if you drive up with out a parking sticker, have your passport(Student ID) card out to show them and you are good to go!!

Majors: As an education major, I will be student teaching. This will act as a kind of internship. As a student teacher, one is not paid, but takes on the full responsibility of a teacher.

Majors: The process of getting into the Elementary Education program at High Point University is pretty difficult. You have to have a GPA of 2.5 or above, pass all of your classes, and show a willingness to work hard. You also have to go through a background check before you are accepted into the program. After that it is well worth the wait!

Majors: If I had the chance, I would do it all over again, and do a better job with my work. My career goals are to become an elementary school teacher. I have minimal concerns about getting a job in my field.

Majors: I am at High Point University. I have been very satisfied and impressed with my education so far. I am an elementary education major. All of my professors have been or are currently employed in the school system. They are all very knowledgeable about their content area, as well as very interested in seeing their students succeed.

Weather: The weather is great in High Point, NC! This is a huge perk to this area of the country. Summers are hot/not too extremely humid and winters may consist of a couple mild snows. This area is known for consistently good weather, raining every once in a while. Transportation is never really affected.

Off-Campus Housing: This may save someone quite a bit of money. There are certain areas that are safer than others, so this plays a large part in figuring out where to live. A student at HPU cannot live off campus, though, until he or she is 21 I believe. I don't think that availability is an issue when it comes to finding a place off campus and the area is not too pricey.

Nightlife: The nightlife is not that great. There are very limited options as far as a bar/club scene in High Point, let alone that are safe areas at night. The area is somewhat improving but it is such a small place, night life will never be great. Nightlife pretty much resides on campus or off-campus housing parties.

Computers: Although most students bring their own computers to HPU, there are a ton of computers to use in many different building on campus. Smith Library and the University Center Learning Commons both have a lot of computers that can be used 24/7, and most dorms also supply a number to use as well. Since most people use their own computers, I have never had trouble getting a computer to use when I'm in need of one.

5 College Freshman

Greek Life: Greek life is extremely important at HPU. Everyone is a part of Greek Life and if they aren't they want to be. We have many events for multiple causes and have great socials and formals.

5 College Freshman

Computers: There are computer labs located in all dorms with printers. The libraries are open 24/7 and provide unlimited free printing. The libraries are crowded during finals, but that's expected anywhere. If the computers/ printers aren't working in the dorms there are on call maintenance staff to help!

5 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: High Point University has the best housing I have ever seen.

Overall, the HPU experience is nothing less than “extraordinary." Most students are happy to be attending such a fantastic school and are actually sad to be going home at breaks. The campus has such a welcoming atmosphere that students feel that they are at home no matter how far they have to travel to get there. Students become so involved with friends, clubs, sports, and organizations on campus that leaving all of that to go home is sad for a lot of students. When it comes to preparing students for the future, High Point gives them every opportunity, and all they have to do is take it. High Point produces well-rounded students who are prepared to enter graduate school or the job market as soon as they graduate. With a focus on a real world experience in the University's education, students leave HPU with the competence to jump into the workforce. Through internships and hands-on classroom work, students can feel confident they have the skills to succeed.

High Point is different from so many other schools because it is a small school with large-school facilities. The University has the resources of big schools, but the friendly and caring atmosphere and personal attention of a smaller institution. Professors know students by name and take an interest with what they are doing in and out of the classroom. High Point values a student's whole education, not what is just limited to the classroom. The professors and administration work on molding students not just academically, but also instilling in them a sense of generosity, self-awareness, and kindness toward their environment and fellow man.
