5 College Junior

Majors: I didn't encounter any problems from admission. I am going pre-med, and because the school is small I am able to get all the classes I need. For admission you just need to be a well rounded and diverse person.

5 College Junior

Majors: I really enjoy going pre-med. The workload is tough but very doable if you study hard. The counselors and school is very good with setting you up with job and internship opportunities. Many people who graduate from the school are able to find a good job and do what they want to do.

Off-Campus Dining: There are a good number of places close to campus. I enjoy off campus dining a lot. There are a couple Mexican, Greek, and Asian cuisine places. The southern cooking is absolutely amazing, and the cost is about average. Some restaurants have college specials, but others don't. I eat at the cafeteria more often than not, but I do enjoy the off campus food too.

Health & Safety: The police are very close to campus but are a little slow upon arrival if there is a problem among students. Usually there is no need for security to intervene in student affairs on campus. I feel very safe on campus. There are call boxes all over campus and the campus is fairly well lit at night.

3 College Junior

Campus Housing: The off campus housing is better than the dorms. The best girls dorm is Galloway in terms of aesthetics. Raney has the smallest rooms of the girls dorms and both Veasey and the coed dorm Couch have a good community feel. Martin(guy's dorm) has the most parties and Hardin ( the other boy's dorm) is fairly nice. The social atmosphere in all the dorms and off campus housing is amazing, but it's also not the easiest to get off campus housing.

College Junior

Greek Life: There is no Greek life at my campus. I wasn't sure how to fill in the above area. I like it without Greek life. I feel as though the school is now more of a community.

Academics: It's a really difficult course load to be a biology major, but I really love it. My teachers explain things really well. The labs are very hands on and informative also. The school has many internships with teachers that you can do. Also your counselors and other teachers can help you find internships outside the school. Many internship/ job fairs are held so that people can find work outside school.

Academics: There are so many areas to study, and the professors are amazing. They are so helpful and kind. Registration is fairly easy. It is not very difficult to get all the classes that you want and the counselors are very helpful. Course workload can be very difficult especially for the science classes but there is so much help available to you that it is okay.

Overall Experience: I love my school. I love the people there and the atmosphere. Everyone is so friendly and personable. Many of the staff and all the cafeteria ladies know each student's name. They have different themed lunches and dinners sometimes in the cafeteria which makes dinning there more fun and interesting. I really do have a Hendrix family and I think that is a really unique thing to feel as though a WHOLE school is your family. Other schools will have sororities of fraternities which may be like family for some other students, but our school doesn't have that. I think it makes everyone feel closer to one another. I would choose Hendrix over and over again.

Diversity: There are many students who are from Rwanda that are on campus. Aside from that there are a few Mexicans and Asians but for the majority there are Caucasians. Everyone is accepting of different religious beliefs and cultures. You are able to voice your opinion on anything without being attacked for your view. People will disagree and have different views from yourself but they're able to be very respectful when talking about their differences. Many people on campus are of a different sexual orientation which people respect. We treat each other all as people at Hendrix and never segregate people or treat them differently due to skin color, religion, sexual orientation, etc.

3 College Junior

Scholarships: I had no trouble getting financial aid. I got about a half scholarship, but the school is still very expensive and my parents did take out a loan to pay for my school. There is no athletic scholarships given because it is a division three school, but they are doing academic scholarships. The do offer loans at the school and a monthly payment system where you can keep track of what you paid. The school does offer work study. Many students are able to do work study, and there are some restaurants within walking distance of the school where some students also work.

Guys & Girls: Students at Hendrix are average looking, but their personalities are AMAZING! Everyone is incredibly friendly. Hendrix is it's own community and when you're there you won't want to leave because you feel as though you belong to a new family. Social life at Hendrix is always very interesting and the parties which are put on by the school are always creative and fun. Almost every event will have a certain theme to it which people will gladly dress up for. I always feel safe at party events because being in a small school you are able to tell if someone is new there. There is neither an excess or deficiency of parties, and aside from those social events everyone works very hard on their school work.

Off-Campus Dining: The cost of off campus is ok. We receive student discounts so it makes it better, and we do have a couple of choices.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: There are some dorms that are not kept very clean, some dorms have bigger rooms than others. Housing is done by seniors first pic and it goes all the way down to freshmen. It's fair because we will all get our chance.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: Half of my tuition and board is paid, it is expensive so I am trying to find some more money to help me pay for college because I don't have enough to pay for it all.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: The fan support could be better, but the teams work great together. They bond a lot and spend a lot of time together to grow stronger.

4 College Freshman

Computers: The network speed isn't the best, but there are computers available when you need one and you can print at any time. The computer lab is over 24 hours.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: Every freshman must live on campus, I believe sophomores too. As a junior and senior, you can decide to live on the apartments that are offered by the school. You can live off campus if you are 21 and older, if you are married, if your family doesn't have enough income.

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: We don't have greek life on campus, but if we did, I feel like it would separate the school and have more cliques.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: You see all kinds of people at my school. There are hispanics, international students, and the school is pretty challenging.

4 College Freshman

Transportation: My parents come pick me up when it's time to go home until I get a car.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: At night, we have a public safety officer roaming around in a golf cart just making sure everything is under control.

4 College Freshman

Weather: My campus looks beautiful at any time of the year. From fall to summer!

2 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: The town views Hendrix students as the smart ass rich kids, and thus there is quite a bit of animosity towards the students. The town adamantly advertises welcome and discounts for UCA students, but Hendrix is ignored entirely. There is quite literally nothing to do in town. Little Rock, the capitol, is a 30-minute drive away, and offers some entertainment and escape from the monotony that is Conway.

College Freshman

Greek Life: Hendrix does not have Greek life (thank the gods)

Hendrix College may not be for everybody, but for many students, it’s a wonderful choice. It’s a small school, which comes with both pros and cons. The downside is that there are less classes and majors to choose from, and that if you make any enemies, you probably won’t be able to avoid them until one of you graduates. The upside is that Hendrix is a tight-knit community where you’ll recognize many familiar faces on your way to and from classes, bonding over the popular annual events scattered across every students’ time at Hendrix. This community feel extends outside of the campus—alumni are friendly toward other Hendrix graduates, and even non-alumni in the Arkansas area generally have good impressions of Hendrix.

There’s always something to do at Hendrix, be it shopping at the ever-popular Walmart, taking advantage of the various off-campus dining options, seeing a movie, going to a club, or listening to a visiting lecturer. The faculty and staff are all friendly, caring, and truly devoted to helping you personally succeed at Hendrix. The food is great, with lots of options for even the pickiest eaters. The dorms can be crowded, but they’re also community-builders. Conway is a great small town, and Little Rock’s presence nearby doesn’t hurt, either, though Hendrix’s Central Arkansas location means some crazy weather and being in a dry county can be off-putting to some partiers. Public transportation may be nonexistent, but Hendrix makes it easy to have a car on campus, and many things are within walking distance anyway. When some of the biggest complaints about the school include the lack of proper drainage and the intermittent train whistles, you know you’ve got it made!
