3 College Sophomore

Athletics: Besides a couple of intramural sports throughout the year, HCHC does not have any official sports teams.

3 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: It's a small school, so you'll know who's available and who's not, who's eligible dating material, and again, who's not.

5 College Sophomore

Scholarships: HCHC offers fabulous scholarships! If you've got the grades, you get unmatched scholarships!

4 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: As long as you have transportation, Boston is a great city and there's lots to see and do, especially if you like shopping, art, and food!

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Community life is definitely above average, however the undergraduate programs are severely lacking academically.

5 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: HCHC recently outsourced their food service to Chartwell's, and it is a vast improvement! Great food!

2 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: There is NO privacy in campus housing; walls are paper-thin and recreational space is limited and inconvenient with noise level.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: It's quite expensive, but find a few housemates and you're set. I hear those who live off-campus save money, and are much happier with greater independence and freedom.

1 College Sophomore

Diversity: Minorities will most likely stick out like a sore thumb.

1 College Sophomore

Weather: Too much snow and cloudy skies!

3 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: Visitation rules and noise violations err on ridiculous, but under the circumstances, it's very understandable (walls are paper-thin and facilities/space is limited).

2 College Sophomore

Computers: Access to computers on campus is great. Unfortunately, HCHC has horrible Wi-Fi and many students are tempted to pay for their own network service in the dorms.

3 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: I feel very safe on campus, as it is well-lit and a tight-knit community (outsiders are obvious). However, HCHC does NOT have a health center or campus nurse-- something we've all complained about.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: If one has accessible transportation, a variety of tasty classic, as well as ethnic, foods are available. Some student favorites include Tasty Burger, City Feed and Supply, and Wonder Spice.

4 College Senior

Overall Experience: The campus is beautiful and the people are enjoyable. The city of Boston is absolutely beautiful, it would be nice to have a car to drive around with, but it is easy to get around without one.

5 College Senior

Off-Campus Dining: There are many restaurants that a group of friends and I could go to at school. From Cheesecake Factory to Asian food from Zen320 and numerous other restaurants, there is a lot of variety and the food is excellent.

3 College Senior

Campus Dining: The food at Hellenic College can sometimes be very good, but it is mostly just average.

3 College Sophomore

Diversity: HCHC is a Greek Orthodox School. There are MANY people of Greek descent, and almost everyone is Greek Orthodox, Russian Orthodox, Romanian Orthodox, and any other kind of Orthodox. However, we do have racial differences among a few people, and political differences as well. I do not believe there are even a few homosexuals on campus. People from various economic backgrounds tend to get accepted to HCHC as well.

4 College Sophomore

Weather: The weather at Hellenic is similar to Michigan, which is where I am from. We get all four seasons, but there is somewhat of an accent on winter and when it snows. HCHC has a huge sledding hill that everyone loves to slide down on snowboards or sleds. Classes sometimes get cancelled. Some days in spring can get either pretty cold or unusually warm. But usually in a few weeks, the weather homogenizes a bit more.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: The apartments are a little more than 15 miles from campus and can be very expensive. You can't find anything for less than $1500.00 per month. Usually the apartments in and around Brookline are around $2,000 per month. But the freedom is totally worth it. You get your own kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and living room. Privacy is the main reason people live off-campus. The only problem is the price.

3 College Sophomore

Facilities: Gym equipment is in very good condition, classrooms and Smart Boards are in good shape, as well as the library and museum. The Chapel is always well taken care of, and the grounds are nice. However, the dorm facilities, such as the bathrooms, recreation rooms and the dorm rooms themselves could be better. The walls are paper-thin within the dorms and the rec-rooms need to be repainted and redone in some areas.

4 College Senior

Transportation: You don't need public transportation at HCHC because it's really small, however, there are van shuttles to and from the T-stop and to Boston College for students taking classes there.

5 College Senior

Parking: You always have a spot as long as you're willing to pay for parking per semester!

3 College Senior

Campus Dining: Food at Holy Cross – The food is decent and well-prepared considering the resources the school has and its cooks who are preparing the food as best as they can.
