College Senior

Campus Resources: The campus is a career-focused campus so athletics and most of the campus activities that the bigger colleges and universities have don't apply here.

College Senior

Campus Resources: I don't use the computer labs or the network at school.

4 College Senior

Facilities: A designated smoking area, plenty of parking but a little ways away from fast eating places.

5 College Senior

Academic Experience: The program is medical insurance billing and coding and I absolutely love it! The workload can be a little stressful but the instructors are very good at helping with difficulties with the homework. The instructors, especially the coding instructors, always say that they are preparing us for the national exam for coding and that is the reason they load up the homework. But if you understand the material, it is not so hard.

4 College Senior

Academic Experience: MIBC, criminal justice, business, MA, MOA, dental assisting

College Senior

Career Services: I haven't taken advantage of this service yet.

Online Courses: I was working full-time when I started at Heald and so online was a good choice, so I thought. Participation was the hardest part for me because of my work schedule. I failed my online courses because of participation. My homework and test scores were up to my usual standard, but I could not always log in to participate before the deadline, so I failed. It was very frustrating and disheartening. I now am not working full-time and attend all my classes on-site. I am now a straight A student.

Student Body: The students get to know one another through the classes and then become good and long lasting friends, especially the ones that are in the same career path. We study together, eat lunch together and text each other with homework questions and frustrations. I attended another college but the student body was bigger and the only ones that really hung out together were the ones in your classes. They didn't cross over to other majors as far as being friendly. At Heald, the medical assistant students will come out into the hall and snag other students, and bribe them with food, to be a guinea pig in the labs so they can practice taking vital signs and drawing blood. It is a blast at Heald! But we also learn. Our instructors have many years of experience in the field and so can instruct us with confidence and we can feel that we are getting the best education possible. My coding instructor has been in the field for 25+ years and is still consulting physicians' offices while teaching! That is so awesome! He stays up-to-date!
