Campus Strictness: We don't feel like we are confined when it comes to our social lives. The amnesty policy helps people get help if they need it.

Campus Strictness: HUPD is literally the best thing on the planet. Literally everyone wants to hang out with HUPD. They're all super nice, funny, willing to help. The Amnesty Policy is amazing — if you or a friend has over-imbibed, you can take them to UHS or call HUPD to take care of them with no risk of getting in trouble. Goes to show that student safety takes priority over needless disciplinary action.

Other than freshmen, Harvard students have few worries about campus strictness. University police are present to protect the safety of students, not detain or punish every underage drinker or noisy reveler. Most students feel free from punishment because almost all students are given at least one warning before any official disciplinary actions are taken.

For those unfortunate students who frequently abuse school policy, punishments can range from probation to expulsion. However, many students realize that the University is reluctant to expel a student and often grants them readmission after a certain amount of time. While Harvard may be a bit lax, don’t find a false sense of security; Cambridge and Boston police are strict and will act upon any case of underage drinking. Students should just keep in mind that with independence comes responsibility, and that frequent abuse of the rules does not come without punishment at Harvard.
