Campus Strictness: I would say Harvard isn't too strict about alcohol use. Freshmen aren't allowed to have alcohol in their dorms, but it's give or take whether or not parties that happen get busted/the host(s) get into trouble. In the Houses, parties are free to occur so long as they don't create extreme amounts of noise, and varies depending on the proctor living in the dorm. Harvard hates when its students protest though.

Campus Strictness: I've never encountered any problems. Freshman parties get broken up every so often if they are noisy. Basically you have to do something really bad and stupid to get in any real trouble.

5 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: I've never had any problems! If you respect the people around you and yourself neither will you!

3 College Junior

Campus Strictness: Depending on if we are talking about academics or social strictness, the rating would change.

Campus Strictness: We don't feel like we are confined when it comes to our social lives. The amnesty policy helps people get help if they need it.

Other than freshmen, Harvard students have few worries about campus strictness. University police are present to protect the safety of students, not detain or punish every underage drinker or noisy reveler. Most students feel free from punishment because almost all students are given at least one warning before any official disciplinary actions are taken.

For those unfortunate students who frequently abuse school policy, punishments can range from probation to expulsion. However, many students realize that the University is reluctant to expel a student and often grants them readmission after a certain amount of time. While Harvard may be a bit lax, don’t find a false sense of security; Cambridge and Boston police are strict and will act upon any case of underage drinking. Students should just keep in mind that with independence comes responsibility, and that frequent abuse of the rules does not come without punishment at Harvard.
