Campus Dining: HUDS is far from quality dining. Food from the freshmen dining hall, Annenburg, is especially lacking, most likely due to its mass-production in relation to the smaller house dining halls. They do try and vary the options, as well as change them up from season to season, but the food is generally bland and either under or overcooked. There also isn't a great variety of vegetarian/vegan options, especially if one can't eat soy.

Campus Dining: Lots of variety. Wish the entrees were better and the vegetables fresher

4 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: Good campus food as far as most schools go, but the meal plan is limited (basically included with pricey tuition). Few options for gluten-free or vegetarians or anyone with diet restrictions

Campus Dining: Each house has its own dining hall where we can really get to know the staff and each other. We often have cultural foods and community nights that bring in fresh produce from the local area. If you aren't interested in the items on the menu one night, you can always make a custom order from the grill. We get 3 meals a day in the dining hall and snacks are left out until midnight during the week. All of this is incorporated into tuition.

Campus Dining: HUDS (Harvard University Dining Services) isn't stellar, but it's better than is expected from dining halls. Also, the location in Harvard Square gives options for nights off from dining hall.

Opinions on the quality of campus dining at Harvard run the gamut from total disgust to lavish praise. In general, students admire the beautiful architecture of Annenberg and most of the house dining facilities, but many students don’t believe the ambience of the dining halls makes up for the less-than-stellar cuisine served up by Harvard University Dining Services (HUDS).

However, students can use their Crimson Cash at a select number of restaurants in Harvard Square, making Harvard’s dining opportunities appear a bit brighter. Most of the complaints about food quality come from first-year students who are victims of Annenberg, where food is mass-produced to serve more than 1,600 freshmen. Upperclassmen note that food quality does improve after freshman year, however.

  • Interhouse restrictions often bar non-residents from dining at a particular house during certain meals.
  • Each dining hall offers late-night snacks in each house dining hall Sunday through Thursday. These "Brain Breaks" are set up to help students who are studying.
