1 College Freshman

Majors: Undeclared students all have the same advisor who sends out an email each semester saying there's too many of us for him to meet with us individually so we receive no guidance or help in choosing classes or deciding on a degree path. The nursing and science programs here are very competitive and challenging but the other departments can be gone through without too much effort.

College Freshman

Majors: I know nothing about internships for Harding. The main ones given are youth internship positions at churches and I have no desire to do one of those because I wouldn't be working towards a career or job experience. Females don't get to be youth ministers or preachers so it's just a way to make money over the summer if you want to.

Facilities: For someone that enjoys basketball the athletic center is pretty good for pick up games but it closes at 10 every night. groups mainly hangout in dorm lobbies, the stu, or random locations on campus like academic buildings or sit down somewhere in a circle.

Overall Experience: For someone that fits into the strict southern christian mold Harding is an amazing and safe place to be yourself where no one cares if you were sheltered or aren't a partier. If you don't fit into that mold then it's a place you don't fit in and can't be yourself because it's frowned upon or against the rules or just not harding appropriate. Being different is not encouraged.

Off-Campus Housing: The rules to obtain off campus housing make it hard to get approval and the town being small make options limited if a larger number of incoming seniors want off campus than graduated seniors.

1 College Freshman

Facilities: There's nothing that sets Harding apart from other schools as far as facilities go. It's a small town with not much to do and the buildings aren't state of the art or anything like that.

Greek Life: Here at Harding we have Greek Social Clubs. I joined one this past semester and I am loving every minute of it. It is my second family.

Nightlife: If you want a school to party at, do not come to Harding. Here we come to school for a Christian Education and do not allow that kind of behavior.

Weather: The weather here is different every day! Arkansas humidity is pretty crazy. The summers are very hot and the winters are very cold. On the bright side, fall and spring time are absolutely amazing. The weather is always very nice during those seasons.

Off-Campus Dining: Searcy may not be the biggest town but we have tons of restaurants. There is plenty of variety when it comes to what you want to eat. We have Mexican, Greek, Chinese, Japanese, Cajun, Italian, and many more. The cost differs from place to place, but I can usually get good food for a good price. A lot of local restaurants do offer student discounts which is a huge blessing.

Off-Campus Housing: There are many places in Searcy that offer off campus housing. There are many local apartments that are just off campus so people often just ride bikes to class. There are also many houses for rent in Searcy. I'm not sure about the cost but I know that they are affordable. A pro of living off campus is you don't have a curfew, and a con is you aren't involved as much in campus life.

Majors: I have not been in an internship here and I don't know if my major will call for one. I know that my senior year I will have to student teach for a semester and I am very excited about that. I want to be a teacher so bad and I cannot wait to learn more about it.

5 College Sophomore

Majors: I love my program. I think that my major is a lot of fun and I can't wait for classes each semester. My career goals are to get a teaching job in or around Searcy so I can stay close to my family and really give back to the town I grew up in.

3 College Sophomore

Parking: Parking can be difficult sometimes. Campus is rather small and there are a lot of people. Fines are about 30 dollars I believe, but if you have a parking permit then you will be fine.

5 College Sophomore

Athletics: I think that the athletic teams do a great job of inviting everyone to their games. Harding does well in every sport, and we always have a good fan base. The coaches are super nice, and are very good at promoting school spirit.

5 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: I love it here in Searcy. I was actually born here so I would love to graduate and get a job here.

4 College Sophomore

Transportation: We have regular campus safety guys that will drive around campus on golf carts and pick people up to take them where they need to go.

4 College Sophomore

Computers: The computers here are outstanding. There are computer labs in all of the buildings so it is super easy to get ahold of one. We also have two Mac labs on campus. Printing is free but with some restrictions. There is free Wi-Fi all over campus so a personal computer can be used anywhere on campus.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: I love it here at Harding. The teachers are great and the students are my family.

5 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: Filipino, Mexican, Greek, Alaskan dumplings, Searcy has its crop of unique dining selections. There are also plenty of home favorites, such as McDonald's Burger Kind, Sonic, etc. It is best to try all the family run restaurants. Huckleberry's Catfish Buffet, Frozen D's, and many other restaurants offer very unique dining experiences that you'll want to come back for.

5 College Junior

Scholarships: As far as money goes, Harding does whatever it can to help each student that is actually serious about being here. Donations from all the alumni take about 1/3 off the cost for students to come here.

4 College Junior

Health & Safety: Although the security staff could use some more numbers, they do well for what they have. Not a lot happens around here, but they are pretty good and well equipped.

3 College Junior

Parking: I don't have a car, but I do see a lot of parking congestion happen. For incoming freshman, my recommendation is just to observe. Learn the flow of daily life on campus. Know what places to avoid and when and you should make it through swimmingly.

5 College Junior

Academics: I'm pretty sure I just talked about this, but as a Public Relations and Leadership & Ministry major, it's great! One of my professors use to work for the President of the United States! How cool is that?

4 College Junior

Majors: Compared to a huge state university, options are limited. You can't get a really focused degree, like a Bachelors in Arachnology, but most of our majors, particularly Business, Health Science, and Communication, are the best in the nation.
