4 College Sophomore

Computers: There are a lot of computer labs to make printing and working fairly simple

4 College Sophomore

Computers: There are plenty of computers on campus, but I prefer to have my mac so I can pull it out anywhere and not be limited when studying or socializing.

3 College Freshman

Computers: All computer labs are always open. However, such labs are in high demand during finals week, so students have to plan accordingly. Printing on campus is easy and while there's no real need for a personal printer, having one doesn't hurt. On several occasions the printers in the computer labs were broken, out of paper, out of toner, you name it.

4 College Sophomore

Computers: They have a huge number of Macs and PCs readily available in almost every academic building on campus, including in buildings with nice study spaces. The computers are up-to-date and fairly fast.

Hamilton College has many computers for student use. The multimedia center is more than adequate, boasting all of the programs graphic designers and computer media students could want. In addition to the computers in the library, Beinecke student center has Dells, KJ has three computer rooms of varying size (from about 45 to 15), and the Science Building has large computer labs on every floor, ranging from bioinformatic portals to computational chemistry supercomputers. The only criticisms students have of the computer facilities is that they are overcrowded around midterms and finals, and the printers always jam when you’re trying to print something important. If you can, bring your own computer and limit computer lab time. Hamilton’s Information Technology Services (ITS) provides tech support for most computer operating systems and wireless adaptors, but not for all. Therefore, it is highly recommended that students talk with them before purchasing new computer equipment.

Hamilton has been made completely wireless, allowing students to access the Internet from just about everywhere imaginable on campus. On the few precious warm days, students can be found outside doing homework and getting some much needed sun. Occasionally the network gets bottlenecked during peak hours, but for the most part, it's lightening fast, especially when surfing academic sites.
