Facts & Statistics

Tips for Getting In
  • Be an economic/ethnic minority.
  • Be involved in extracurriculars.
  • Have a good high school GPA (3.0 or better).
  • Have a well-written application essay.
  • Have an ACT/SAT score of more than 25 (though ACTs/SATs are not required for admission).
  • Have excellent letters of recommendation.
Things I Wish I Knew Before Coming To School
  • If you can't stand cold, you might really struggle from November to March.
  • The campus grapevine is epic. No matter what you do and who you do it with, it will be known by everyone by the end of the day.
  • The Gustavus uniform for girls: UGG boots, leggings as pants/sweatpants, ratty sweatshirt/North Face Denali jacket, topknot hair bun, and full makeup.
Interviews & Information Sessions
Contact the Admissions Office at (507) 933-7676 or (800) GUSTAVUS to schedule an information session or interview. Admissions is flexible and willing to accommodate students, depending on what day they would like to come and how long they would like to stay. Admissions will arrange for transportation to and from the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport for students who are visiting from out of state.
Campus Tours
Campus tours are available throughout the year by contacting the Admissions Office. Open houses are also available by registration. During the school year, students typically tour during a weekday so they can sit in on classes and schedule meetings with professors. Tours are also available during the summer.
Overnight Visits
Overnight visits are encouraged, and they are one of the best ways that a student can feel out the campus and whether they are interested in attending the College. Arrangements can be made to house students any day of the week, though weekends are the best times to see what the social activities are like on campus. Prospective students stay with on-campus students and can also make arrangements with Admissions to meet with professors, coaches, or attend a class.
