3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: It really depends on whether you have a car or not...

2 College Sophomore

Diversity: I'm all for racial diversity, but the Christian campus is not exactly accepting of sexual diversity.

5 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: I never notice any problems, and if there is one it is dealt with swiftly and justly.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: I love the freshman dorm environment!

3 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: It's fair, and I have no problems with it.

3 College Sophomore

Weather: Winters aren't too fun, but the Fall and the Spring are fantastic!

4 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Drug and alcohol use is not prevalent, but occasionally one does hear mention of it.

3 College Freshman

Athletics: Intramural sports are a big part of student life. There is a strong emphasis on sports by ultimately academics comes first.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: Grove City does not accept Federal Aid, but there are other scholarships available and a Student Loan program with PNC bank that allows student to borrow up to $6000. Must complete FAFSA and internal GCC financial aid application.

4 College Freshman

Computers: love the laptops, hate the wifi

3 College Freshman

Nightlife: I'd rather hang out with 1 or 2 friends

5 College Freshman

Academics: I feel challenged for the first time in my life.

3 College Freshman

Weather: not a lot of sunshine, but beautiful when there is

4 College Freshman

4 College Junior

Greek Life: try it - you'll like it!

4 College Junior

Health & Safety: I feel very safe on campus - not many "outsiders" are on campus and not many commuters. The college uses technology well to keep students updated and aware of any issues.

5 College Junior

Academics: vigorous academics for sure!! Professors are first-class and insanely educated! The registration process is online and only open to certain classes at certain time - you'd best be ready to register or you could miss your first class choices!

5 College Junior

Majors: I am very pleased with the Business program - well educated and decorated professors. I would choose it again. My goal is to find a job in my career upon graduating and my college has a success rate of placement over 90%

Majors: Grove City is know for it's VIGOROUS ACADEMICS - there application process in very thorough but quite appropriate for the school. Strong grades, community service and extracurricular activities score high on the application process - no abnormalities in the process. "Plan ahead to complete all paperwork on time" would be my best advise.

Scholarships: Grove City doesn't take any federal aid or grants. The scholarships they do accept are limited and honestly it was too complicated for me to want to deal with. They do give out more scholarships to upperclassmen than they do to freshmen.

Off-Campus Dining: There isn't a lot of off-campus dining options. However, Coffaro's pizza and BoBo Rice Bowl deliver right to the dorms and are open to unhealthy hours of the night. If you can drive, there's more dining options in the neighboring Slippery Rock community and towards the Outlets.

3 College Freshman

Nightlife: Not a lot goes on at Grove regarding party scenes. We are a pretty laid back college. Any parties that do happen, happen off campus and not a lot of people know about them.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: Grove City is bigger on IM sport than it is on varsity sports. Varsity sport games are attended but not very well. However, almost everyone plays IM sports, and there are so many different IM sports to play. Even if you aren't athletic, there's always IM Settlers of Catan. Or Quidditch.

5 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Campus Safety does a great job with keeping Grove City crime free. Seriously, there is no crime here. I've never been anywhere else where you save your table at the cafeteria with a wallet, or can leave your computer and textbooks set up unattended in the library for hours without anyone touching them. I never worry about my safety at Grove City.

3 College Freshman

Transportation: Grove City is a small town, so almost everything is within walking distance. However, in the cold winter months, no one wants to walk anywhere, so cars come in handy then, if you can dig them out of the student parking lot. The college does offer a shuttle service to and from the airport for breaks for students who don't have cars. Freshman aren't allowed a car on campus, but you quickly realize that you wouldn't have time to go off campus anyway.

Freshmen might be a little skeptical about the "Grove City family" lingo that they hear during orientation and opening convocation. However, by graduation, many undergrads admit that Grove City College is a second family. Like almost any real family, Grove City College has its unpopular rules, its rebels, its squabbles, and its quirks. But also like a real family, there's a bond-despite the blemishes. Not everyone is in love with their college family, but Grovers have no excuse to feel like just one of the crowd.

Some students complain their way through four years of killer academics, narrow-mindedness, and local boredom, but by the time most of them actually finish, they have enjoyed Grove City College, despite their gripes. In contrast, many students rave about the school right from the start. They thrive on the academic challenges, accept Christian values, and change the local atmosphere with their passionate desire to serve God and others. The popularity of activities like Orientation Board, Homecoming Committee, and tour guiding are sure signs that students love their school. Grovers, the mainstream and rebel alike, make life-changing connections here.
They become the happily-married, successful alumni who bring their kids to Homecoming for an extended family vacation or reunion.
