Off-campus dining near Grand Valley can be a fabulous experience, depending on how much you want to spend and the methods of transportation you are willing to use. The Rapid provides free transportation for students, and there are bus stops within walking distance of many of the popular restaurants. Allendale has a few fast food places, as well as some sit-down family restaurants and pubs. Papa John’s is on campus, located in the Connection eating facility, while Jimmy John’s and Hungry Howie's offer delivery. Standale, roughly a 10-minute drive west, has similar options. Grandville has some specialty restaurants, as well as the food court at the RiverTown Crossing Mall. Grand Rapids has a wider selection, and a number of them are directly across the river from the Pew Campus. Grand Rapids is known for one of the nation's top culinary schools. You can taste its influence in the range and quality of restaurants in the area. Homegrown eateries, brand-name franchises, sophisticated five-star cuisine, and creative casual fare provide all you need for every occasion. Classic American comfort food and popular ethnic dishes are popular among downtown GR.
