3 College Freshman

Athletics: From what I have seen they are pretty good, but I don't know enough to give a definitive opinion.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: Everyone is very active and enthusiastic

3 College Senior

Athletics: Obviously not as dominant as a D1 school but many sports are constantly making the NCAA toury such as swimming and lacrosse. The biggest sport to go out to watch is football. The crowd is a nice mix of students family members and even an impressively large marching band.

3 College Junior

Athletics: Pretty Fun – People love going to football games very once in a while but they're not a huge huge deal here. People have school pride and dress in orange and blue, we love to support our friends. Intramurals and Club sports are pretty big almost as big as greek life. The Ultimate Frisbee, and Rugby teams are big.

3 College Junior

Athletics: We have a couple of great teams at Gettysburg like the Swimming program (Men's and women's) and our Lacrosse program also is outstanding, that being said we are a DIII school competing in a rather small conference so that means games are fun and competitive but don't kid yourself and think you are getting a huge school athletic atmosphere with packed stadiums and ESPN cameras. We show up on gameday to support our friends, but athletics don't rule the school.

If you crave the excitement and intensity of Division I-caliber athletics, do not come to Gettysburg. Sports are simply not a priority for most students at Gettysburg, and despite having perennially excellent men's lacrosse and women's field hockey teams, athletics generally fail to stir much excitement or support among the student body.

However, intramurals are a different story. They are very popular at the `Burg and are quite intense. Almost every student at Gettysburg ends up playing an intramural sport at one time or another, and many participate in multiple IMs year-round. Some safe bets for top-notch IMs are outdoor soccer in the fall, and softball and indoor soccer in the spring. Intramurals are a cheap and easy way to have fun, socialize, and get some exercise all at once. Club sports are sort of the hidden athletic treasure at the `Burg. They fall in-between varsity and intramurals in terms of intensity and fan support, and the games are usually quite competitive. Gettysburg competes against other schools in club sports, such as ultimate Frisbee and men's and women's rugby. Both due to the novelty of the sports and the earnest competition of the players, club sports can be quite enjoyable to watch, and they provide a unique weekend afternoon alternative to sitting at home or doing work.

School Spirit
It seems like Gettysburg school spirit doesn't really kick in until one is an alumnus of the institution. While you are at the school, there isn't really much of an opportunity, or need, to have or display school spirit. Athletics, while popular, are nowhere near as important to Gettysburg as they are to top athletic schools. Gettysburg sweatshirts and shorts are omnipresent, but that's just about the extent of displays of school spirit. Alumni, ironically, tend to be deeply involved with the school. There is a worldwide alumni organization, and alumni often return to campus and help out with college functions such as Get Acquainted Day and Homecoming.
Getting Tickets
Not an issue. The only time Gettysburg even bothers distributing tickets is when the school is hosting a tournament of some sort.
