Campus Strictness: Strictness isn't really an apparent thing. The school takes drug and alcohol use seriously, especially if it puts students in danger. Policies don't truly have an affect on students unless they violate one or more of them.

Athletics: There's a lot of support, especially at football games. People get pumped up for it and alumni come back to watch too. There are plenty of intramural options if collegiate sports aren't an option. The athletic facilities are some of the best in the state, having been renovated and updated. The RAC looks great and there are a lot of options for working out. It's a great resource.

Academics: There is a lot of hands-on experience in and outside classes. Most of the professors are great and are easy to learn from because they really do care about student learning. Registration is easy, especially for incoming freshmen because students do it at the end of their orientation process. The workload isn't too bad but depending on the classes and extracurricular activities it could be stressful if students aren't careful. Personally, I study in my room but the library and study/community rooms are also good places to go for quiet.

Scholarships: I'm scholarship hunting to continue paying for college. I am currently relying on the HOPE scholarship and the GI Bill from my dad to pay for the first year. Looking and applying for scholarships is a pain because sometimes its difficult and takes so long to fill out forms.

Transportation: The bus is one of the easiest ways to get around campus since most things are within a 10-minute walking distance. Walking and the bus is the cheapest way to get around but people still use their cars to get places. A car is also convenient to have for trips to the grocery store and going home when you want to.

Weather: The weather rarely affects going to class. We got a couple "snow days" as a preventive measure in case the roads froze over during the winter but that's a rare occurrence.

Campus Housing: A lot of the housing has been updated and renovated. There's free WiFi for residents to use by using their login information for the GSU website. There are two dorms that have a bad reputation because they look sketchy but they have a great community atmosphere. The most recent housing is the most expensive, like Centennial Place, but for the most part everything is reasonable. Off-campus housing, but still technically part of the university, can be more expensive but is said to be cheaper than on-campus. The housing process is easy: fill out the application by the deadline online and you're more than likely to get your first pick.

Local Atmosphere: Georgia Southern University is in Statesboro, GA and it is a small town. There is nothing that most students enjoy doing off-campus. The one place there is does deals for students every so often and is open to the general public all the time. Most interesting things happen on-campus or through the school. It's a fairly safe town and WalMart always provides entertainment.

Off-Campus Dining: For people who live on-campus and don't have a car, it's difficult. There are limited options, mostly confined to Mexican, Oriental, and fast food. The food is fairly cheap and of good quality. Cook Out is one of my favorite places to eat off-campus because they have a huge variety of milkshakes and they all taste delicious.

Greek Life: A lot of the Greek organizations are geared toward philanthropy. While they do take a lot of flak for being Greek and throwing parties, they host events like dance shows and 5k runs for a cause. There is housing specifically for certain Greek organizations but not all of them have their own house.

Drug Safety: Drug use is not overtly noticeable, aside from cigarette smokers. Alcohol use is rampant and visible. I pass the bars on the way to class and after particularly crazy nights bottles and glass are all over the ground. Peer pressure is almost non-existent. It's not necessary to partake to be accepted.

Local Atmosphere: It is a good size town and offers quite a bit but it still gives you a comfortable feel for being away from home.

Computers: Access to computer labs and internet is very good. Although, sometimes it is slower in the dorms and causes problems when doing homework.

Drug Safety: I don't openly see students using drugs but I here people talk about it

Parking: I wish you could park on campus for free earlier than 4:00

Athletics: I think the fan support could be bigger for sports other than football and basketball

2 College Freshman

Scholarships: Takes too long. They don't communicate.
