5 College Freshman

Facilities: Although they just merged with the medical college it is still a pretty small school. for the size and price it is a great school.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: They are missing many sports but the teams in which they have such as Basketball. Golf, Baseball and Tennis are exceptionally good.

Off-Campus Dining: The meal plans are ridiculous but there are many things to find to eat off Wrightsboro road and Washington road.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: There are many off campus housing and compared to the UV pricing it is wayyy more desirable.

3 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: There is Paine college right down the street that students often hang with but as far as outside of the colleges.... not really

Nightlife: At GRU yu have to create your own fun, I came from a sort of small city-like place (Athens) and its like very out of touch, many events are the ones that the college has. nothing outside of GRU really supports GRU unlike Athens Supporting UGA.

Greek Life: Greek is a popular thing to join at our school however it seems to just be a title. The current frats and sorors don't do much other than the things they are probably required to do in the community.

Local Atmosphere: Augusta is the second biggest city in Georgia I believe, personally though there isn't much to do here. The biggest thing would be to go downtown and walk around the different places, go to the river walk, go ice or regular skating.

Nightlife: Do not know, not a party-person.

Majors: I am undeclared and will remain without a definite major because GRU does not offer my major.

Majors: Being undeclared means you get to choose various classes that don't have to be used for your specific major since its a Liberal Arts major.

Weather: Living in the South has its perks and disadvantages. In the winter, the weather is usually mild although the last one we had gave us 2 ice storms and a earthquake but that's extremely unusual! The spring weather is wonderful warm with a slight breeze and cooler at night. Summer is the worst mainly because of the humidity.

Greek Life: I'd say that Greek life on campus is pretty average. They do have Greek week where they introduce the different sororities and fraternities from our school and they have different activities throughout the week.

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: I cannot honestly answer this question since I don't see or know of anyone involved in the drug scene. There probably is drug usage going on around campus but nowhere that is noticeable to me.

4 College Freshman

Academics: I believe you make the best of your academic experience where ever you may go to school. On that hand, the Professors at GRU can be either awesome or one of the worst. Again, it depends on how you apply yourself to your studies but other times it can be the Professor themselves and the way they teach. I will say that the Psychology/Sociology department has the best Professors in my opinion. They are hilarious and very out of the box thinkers which makes the lectures very interesting and centered on discussion more than anything else.

Guys & Girls: Well for the guys, you have your average frat-looking guy, jock, and nerd hanging around. I would say the looks usually stay in the preppy to your average everyday jean wearer for the guys. Looks-wise, it all depends on your type because we have nice looking guys and not so nice looking ones. For the girls it mirrors the guys, sorority, sporty, average it all ranges.

Off-Campus Dining: The off-campus dining options around campus are pretty diverse. Downtown Augusta is only a few minutes away so you have alot of local bars, cafes, and restaurants to choose from. The prices range depending on the establishments but one place called Nacho Mama's serves Mexican food and the average prices is about $5 an entree. Another famous downtown place is Boll Weevil mainly known for their desserts and the price range there is $11 and up.

4 College Freshman

Scholarships: I have heard many horror stories from other students about the Financial Aid Office here but for me the process went smoothly. The one thing I will point out is that you have to stay in contact with the office in order to make sure that all your papers have been processed and went through the system otherwise it can be a headache waiting around for aid to come through. The earlier you get all your paperwork done, the easier the process can be.

4 College Freshman

Computers: The computer labs here at GRU are pretty excellent the many times I have used them. We have 24-hour labs convenient for those long study days. The wireless access is nice as well, can get iffy at times in certain locations, but usually is great all summer long.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: Everyone stays off campus, unless you get your own apartment. It's gated and safe. You aren't allowed to have huge parties in your apartment. Their always an RA on duty to assist you.

4 College Freshman

Drug Safety: There is no drug scene on our school and if it they do it away from campus and nobody knows about it. Alcohol is drunk on campus but not like that it's only during special events and victories.

4 College Freshman

Greek Life: Greek life at GRU is always doing something they are always out to support events and having events themselves. They will talk you you they aren't "stuck up" like most people will describe then as. Greeks stay in the same housing as everyone else or off campus in their own apartments!

4 College Freshman

Majors: It's a rather easy process for everything from admissions to getting into your degree program. The only class with harder criteria is English and Biology but their are many tutors available to be used.

4 College Freshman

Majors: Being a social work major is one of the easy fields. They work load is really easy after core when you start getting into the things you want to know about.
