5 College Freshman

Diversity: On Campus People – There are all different races and ethnicities on campus. It's a blend of people on campus and it's a great environment to meet new people.

4 College Freshman

Campus Dining: The Food – The food in this cafeteria include pretty much anything you'd want. The prices are not high and the meal plans are reasonable.

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Choosing ASU – ASU is a great school for certain majors. It's more affordable than most and the teachers are phenomenal. The only problem that I've encountered has been the limited number of upper elective options for my major, mathematics.

2 College Sophomore

Computers: Network Reliability? Not Really – Unfortunately, getting internet access through one's own computer can be difficult. There is a wireless network access; however, one often finds oneself unexpectedly without internet access despite having been connected only minutes prior.

2 College Junior

Parking: Amusing and Frustrating – Augusta State is a commuter campus. With that in mind, one would think that providing suffient nearby parking would be a priority. It is not. Provided a student can get to campus before 8am they will find a parking space. Peek at the parking lot anytime after 8am and find the most amusing mix of parking lot vultures and road ragers trapped in their vehicles. Amusing, as long as you aren't stuck in the middle looking for a spot as well.

4 College Junior

Diversity: Melting Pot – Our campus is incredibly varied. The local military base provides a large base of non-traditional students. These students even out the younger maturity level of local commuter students. As far as the racial spread goes, the campus seems to be a good mix, with interactions between most upperclassmen completely independant of race.

Health & Safety: Secure Even at Night – The Augusta State campus is small enough that the security force is large enough to sufficiently cover the campus. I also appreciate all of the email security alerts, as well as the phone/text emergency system. Additionally, the placement of the panic stations around campus makes me feel secure when walking to my car in the evening.

Academics: Augusta State University offers multiple majors to help assist student in their carrer path. The professors make sure that all students are prepare for their carrer choice. The program that I chose is nursing.

Local Atmosphere: Augusta, GA – Augusta is a nice size town that consists of two major junior colleges; Augusta State University & Paine College. There are smaller community colleges in the region as well, but Augusta State College is a college that is well known in that particular area. They are well known for their sports. Augusta State reigns as the State National Champs for the pass three years in Men Basketball. Basketball season brings in large crowds; students, Alumni, parents, teachers & local residents. Everyone gather together at the Christenberry Fieldhouse to engage in the action and entertainment of our fellow athletes.

Local Atmosphere: The Atmosphere – The atmosphere is great in campus but the city its in needs remodeling. The city is somewhat boring. If i want to do something fun then i have to stay on campus because off campus is boring.

3 College Junior

Campus Strictness: Parking on campus is a challenge. And make sure you have your parking pass!

College Junior

Campus Housing: Not Sure – I live off campus in my own home and have never seen the inside of the student housing. From what I have heard, it is a great place to live.

4 College Junior

Academics: Great for Nontrafitional Students – I returned to college 20 years after graduating high school. The staff and the professors have all been so helpful and go out of their way to help the "older crowd" as much as possible.

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: Process fairly simple just make sure all forms are received. Visit financial aid office in person regularly til you receive confirmation.

3 College Sophomore

Parking: Parking on campus can be a nightmare. You will need to arrive early to get a spot or plan on walking quite some distance to your class. It doesn't take long to learn where the prime spots are but you might have to arrive 30 minutes before class to avoid being late.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: Very Minimal Choices. There is only one cafeteria on campus. Although the campus is small and there are lots of places to take it to eat, the actual cafeteria is small and the choices are minimal. Good for snacks or desperate need of lunch. There is a smaller cafe as well, but is not always available.

4 College Junior

Weather: The weather is pretty mild in general. The winters are not very extreme. It may snow once or twice during the winter. The worst part about Augusta weather is the hot and humid summers, but this does not have a negative effect on campus experience.

4 College Junior

Drug Safety: Not Much Drug Use Is Visible – Although students may use drugs or alcohol outside of school, usage seems to stay pretty separate from campus activities. I haven't seen many students come to school high or drunk. Most students seem to be pretty focused on their academics and reserve alcohol for weekends or vacations.

4 College Junior

Diversity: I feel that there is a good amount of diversity among the student body at Augusta State University. There are many African American students as well as Caucasians. However, I have not noticed a large number of Hispanic students attending the school. There is also diversity among religious beliefs of students. I have encountered Christian, Atheist, and Muslim students on campus.

5 College Junior

Facilities: Student Center – The student center is only a few years old and it is one of the busiest buildings on campus.

3 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: Meh. Not Too Good. Typical small southern college. Mostly preppy girls wearing tight shirts and UGG boots or whatever the next trend is. Lots of tights-as-pants, high heels wearing African American girls. Lots of redneck guys in baseball hats. Very few have much fasion sense.

2 College Junior

Facilities: It's Just Like High School – Considering the fact that most ASU students come from the Augusta area, everybody knows each other. You are constantly surrounded by the same dweebs and preps you were in high school. A lot of girls wear heels to class everyday. Every. Day. Because that's what college is for--attempting to look better than everyone else!

1 College Junior

Overall Experience: For the Narrow-Minded – Most students at ASU lean one way or another on a topic and absolutely nowhere in-between. Most are unable to see the other side of a debate or discussion. Recently, there was a Klan rally across the street from the school--several students were in support and had regretted that they didn't "have [their] rebel flags flyin'."

Athletics: ASU--For Fans of Golf and Basketball – Augusta State's golf team have been national champions for the past two years and the guys basketball team is known to draw in the most amount of students at one given time. There is no football team.

1 College Junior

Nightlife: "Nightlife" is not a real thing in Augusta--unless you consider drinking in the shoddy university apartments as "nightlife." Then you would love it.
