Local Atmosphere: Considering how Georgia Tech is located in Atlanta, it's basically in the center of everything. There's tons of things to do around as long as you can get around. There's an aquarium, a football stadium, Lenox mall, and plenty of other activities to participate in. Celebrities are also a common place around the city, so it isn't surprising to see one somewhere in the city.

3 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: There are many things to see and do around campus, but most students work so hard that they cannot drive to the attractions or they cannot afford to entry fees.

5 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: I love living in Atlanta. Our school is located right in the center of downtown, so there is always something to do. We even have a shuttle that takes you to Atlantic Station for dining and shopping purposes. The Phillips Arena and The Georgia Dome are in walking distance from campus.

4 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: I personally love living in atlanta, safety, as with any city, is a concern, but students simply need to be smart. I like that piedmont and centenial park are so nearby. Cultural events, however, are rare.

4 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: Atlanta is a great city with plenty to do, and Georgia Tech is right in it. The cool part is that GT's campus is very isolated from the city at the same time, so it feels like real college campus.

Georgia Tech is in the heart of midtown Atlanta, which provides a very urban environment for students. Along with all of the amenities and luxuries that Atlanta’s city life provides, there are also drawbacks, as is the case with any city. For example, city life in general can sometimes be dangerous. However, Atlanta is an exciting city with a vibrant local music scene, which has helped produce the likes of John Mayer and Collective Soul; four major league sports teams; and several attractions. Atlanta is the biggest and fastest-growing city in the Southeast, and students will always have access to a wealth of options for entertainment.

In addition to benefiting from a vibrant social scene, Georgia Tech’s learning environment is enhanced by the presence of a well-integrated community of other universities and colleges. The libraries at Georgia State University, Emory University, and the University of Georgia work in tandem with Georgia Tech’s, and provide students at all schools within the University System of Georgia with a wide variety of research tools and resources.
