Overall ExperienceWhat's This?

If you ask any student about their experience at GCSU, it is sure to be a positive one. If they had to choose Georgia College and State University all over again, most students would make the same decision. You are never going to feel like a number at the University, and the professors treat students with respect and honesty. The campus is absolutely beautiful, and having almost everything within walking distance is a major benefit. Plus, nightlife is not limited to upperclassman students, as you only have to be 18 to get into any of the bars downtown (still 21 to drink, though).

Georgia College does a great job of preparing students for the “real world” through high-level classes, mock interviews, career fairs, and all of the other various opportunities the University Career Center offers. Choosing GCSU guarantees a small-town feel, a variety of new friendships, opportunities to join more than 160 organizations, and an overall great college experience.

Health & Safety: I have had some harassment issues from campus security, as a minority student. I have been questioned about my being a student, I have been told to leave public places for no apparent reason, and have been pulled over multiple times for very questionable reasons.

Local Atmosphere: It is a small town, but it is comfortable and peaceful. I am a small-town type of person, so it fits just fine. There a plenty of places to go and things to do- bowling, skating, shopping, restaurants, clubs, etc.

Majors: The programs here are very tight-knit, with professors and advisors who remember your name, face, and situations. They are open to help at even moment's notice.

Majors: Very intimate setting, being that it is a relatively new program (Music Therapy). However, the curriculum requires a very heavy class load, 8-10 classes a semester, not including summer/online classes. The internship opportunities are also very scarce within this field. However, it is an overall wonderful program with excellent staff.
