3 College Junior

Guys & Girls: Some great girls here. Few smokeshows, but a lot of great looking and smart girls. A lot of ugly ones too.

3 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: Guys are pretty preppy and usually wealthy. There's a variety in the types of guys though

3 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: The typical student at GWU is Jewish and wealthy. Even though people say it doesn't matter if you aren't Jewish or wealthy it does. If you go out for the weekend be prepared to Uber and either pay cover at a bar/club or pay for drinks once you're inside. Guys and girls are similar. Both dress well and are interested in going out and partying. As for relationships, those are rare. People mostly hook-up or consistently hook-up with someone for a while without dating. As for interests GWU is very diverse so you can find just about anyone with the same interests as you.

Average is the best word to use when describing guys and girls at GW. You’ll find very good-looking guys and girls and less attractive individuals, but most students fall in the middle of the spectrum. You have to pick your way through the self-absorbed guys and stuck-up girls, but many GW students are worthy of friendship. Though there are a lot of stuck-up people on campus, friendship also depends on your attitude. If you take the time to get to know people, most are nice. And those who are more into their Gucci sunglasses and Ugg boots than your friendship are probably not worth your time.

More than looks, people’s passion for the activities they are involved in can make them desirable. There are dateable people in every organization, residence hall, and party. For the most part, the hotties stick together when it comes to fraternities and sororities. The athletic studs are in Pi Kappa Psi. Delta Gamma has the best-looking girls, but sometimes has the reputation of being airheads. Other sororities are a real mixture of the good-looking and not-so-good-looking. Hottie or nottie, GW students are very involved in on and off-campus activities and internships. The cute guy in Sig Ep may not just be a typical frat guy you see at parties. He is probably also involved in a cultural group, political organization, or sports team. Major complaints from the female population are that there are fewer guys than girls and that a lot of the guys are not interested in girls.

Birth Control Available?
Not really . . . GW's Student Health Services does not offer gynecological exams, so it cannot give out long-term prescriptions for birth control. However, the University will give first-time birth control users a one-month prescription until they can make an appointment with a gynecologist. Students are usually referred to the GW Hospital's OB/GYN, located in the same building as Student Health, or Planned Parenthood in the District for birth control. The “morning-after pill,” however, is available for $25 at Student Health. Students can also pay $40 for HIV testing at GW-a ridiculous price.

Social Scene
GW students definitely like to party, whether on or off campus. Freshman year, the majority of students are very outgoing and excited to meet other students. After freshman year, when students settle in a little more and have a more set group of friends, they are less likely to reach out and meet others. But with so many activities, bars, concerts, and parties on and around campus, it is easy to meet new people and make friends. Yes, there are some stuck-up and snobby people at GW, but there are also many terrific potential friends. Students just have to meet a lot of people to establish a solid group of friends.
Hookups or Relationships?
Most people are not looking for a serious relationship at GW. Freshman year is all about random hookups at parties, clubs, and bars. As students move into sophomore and junior year, some students (especially girls) start looking for something more serious. But it's pretty tough to find a significant other because the majority of students are just looking for fun and casual hookups. In general, GW students are very active and independent people and often say they do not have time for a boyfriend or girlfriend. But there are exceptions to the casual relationship "rule," so keep your eyes peeled.
Best Places to Meet Guys/Girls
If students are looking for one-night stands, they should check out fraternities, clubs, and bars. Students looking for something a little more serious should think about what kind of girl or guy they want. Campus activities, lectures, and class are great places to find students with similar interests. Smaller apartment and house parties are also good ways to meet people because they are quieter than fraternity parties. Look for non-GW students at work if you intern at an outside organization. Many recent graduates call DC home, and can be potential partners. Also, don't forget about friends of friends.
Dress Code
Because GW is located in a city and many students are from metropolitan areas, most people dress fashionably. Some girls go to class in black pants carrying Prada bags, and many guys head to class in button-down shirts and khakis; but then there is always a stoner passing by who just woke up from a nap wearing a tie-dyed T-shirt and shorts. The majority of students don jeans to go to class, unless it's an 8 a.m.-when students usually straggle into such an early class in sweatpants or even pajamas!
