The great thing about being one of the most diverse schools in the nation is surely the large selection of guys and girls to choose from. White, black, asian, latino, artsy, preppy, scenester; you name it, there’s a huge number of any type of guys or girls at Mason. The many campus organizations and groups—Mason has about 250—are also a great way for students to meet people with the same interests and values.

But since Mason is the largest school in Virginia, with over 30,000 students, it’s not likely that one classroom encounter or just catching the eye of a hot guy or girl on campus will blossom into a relationship. The best advice is to get involved and go meet people! Generally, Mason students are laid-back and open-minded, so as long as students put themselves out there, there are plenty of prospective girlfriends and boyfriends just waiting to be found.

Social Scene
The social scene at Mason is active, and on any given day there's at least 10 different activities happening on campus. Mason has about 250 organizations and clubs, which are constantly putting on different small events, so it's fairly easy to find guys or girls that are into the same things as you. There are only a handful of annual events however, like the Pride Week Drag Show and the Mason Day carnival and concert, which bring out a majority of students to hang out and socialize. Hookups or Relationships?
There's somebody for everybody at Mason, and even somebody who probably shares the same attitudes about hooking up and relationships as you do. There's no single answer to the question about what type of relationship is most common at Mason, since students are involved in everything from one-night stands to long-term, committed relationships.
Dress Code
Students represent nearly every facet of the fashion spectrum, and there's no one way to dress for a given occasion. For class, students wear everything from jeans and T-shirts to heels and skirts. Depending on what party a student's going to, there are different acceptable dress codes. For Greek parties, people generally dress up in skirts and dresses or Polo shirts, whereas some house parties are more laid-back and people wear the same T-shirts they wear to class.
