4 College Junior

Academic Experience: The work loads in my classes are typical I imagine and i'm learning material very quickly I think. The facilities here are great, and I think students here really take full advantage of them. We have a great library, a tutoring center that offers on campus jobs. We have center specifically designed to assist students onto a path to success hence the name (The Success Center) which includes counseling, computers and study areas.

Academic Experience: The professors I have had up to this point impress me on a daily basis with their clear passion in their respected field and the ways they share that passion with their students in the classroom everyday. They genuinely care about the progress of the students in their charge, and they work hard to offer us the education and guidance we need.

Academic Experience: Gavilan gets a bad rap but the majority of instructors I have had have all been wonderful (minus a few...but you'll get that at most places). I have heard nothing but praise for the art teachers in my division. The curriculum is very reasonable, depending on the instructor of course. It is extremely easy to pull a 3.5 GPA if you are taking 12 units/semester.

Academic Experience: There aren't any unique aspects besides the fact that instead of a regular AA Degree, you can pursue the AA-T which betters your chance for transferring to your university of choice in that major/related major. The workload is average, depending on the class and instructor. I find the more Design-related arts classes to be more demanding in terms of deadlines and projects. The facilities are nothing fancy but extremely decent and nice.

5 College Sophomore

Academic Experience: I love the diversity of the courses and the passion of the professors.

Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Most professors are willing to show up early or stay after class if students need extra help. There is also plenty of tutoring sessions for just about every subject. Gavilan College also offers online classes which are very convenient for students who work full-time. One of the best features about Gavilan College is the transfer and counseling opportunities they offer. They make the process of transferring to a four year university easier for students and really seem to want the best for everyone.
