You can always find a close parking place at Furman, but in most cases, you are not allowed to park there. Students are only allowed to park in their reserved lot, and most other spaces are either reserved or 15-minute parking. Although most buildings on campus are about a 10-minute walk, many students still wish they could drive to class. Overall, students are able to keep a positive outlook on the parking situation, citing that the small size of Furman's campus makes it an easy place to get around on foot. Furman has also improved parking somewhat by repaving and enlarging parking lots.
Parking at Furman is probably better than most large universities. Every student is able to get a parking permit, and most students have a car. Having a parking space right outside your door is one of the nicest perks of living in the apartments. However, parking restrictions seem to tighten every year. The University removed almost all of the parking outside the library, and they decided to prohibit students from driving their cars to class during the day. What's even more frustrating is Public Safety's unwavering dedication to the enforcement of these policies by way of profuse ticketing.
