5 College Junior

Health & Safety: I've only been there once, but it appears as if the security guard was posted 24hours. I feel that my safety was a priority.

5 College Junior

Transportation: Provides transportation to and from Lexington Bluegrass airport. Cost is better than renting a car.

5 College Junior

Facilities: Although older, its very charming. The housekeepers do a good job and feed you very well.

4 College Junior

Facilities: Charming, older original buildings for the most part.

2 College Junior

Local Atmosphere: You're really only here for special courses. Outside of campus, there is not a lot in town. There are a lot of scenery and outdoorsy things to do nearby.

Majors: FNU offers Masters and Doctorate degrees in Midwifery, Family Nurse Practitioner and Women's Health NP programs. Post Masters certificates are also available. It is great for people who want a quality education, primarily online.

Academics: This college sets you up with a preceptor in your community

3 College Junior

Weather: the campus in in the maountains of KY and the weather varies greatly. Snow in winter, rain in fall, and hot in summer

4 College Junior

Computers: Being mostly an online program, the computers on campus are minimal. I recommend taking your own laptop

5 College Junior

Facilities: As a nursing school set in the home of the historic Frontier Nursing Association, FNU's purpose and setting are perfect for each other.

4 College Junior

Facilities: Small quaint campus based in the hospital founded by the school's founder in scenic rural kentucky. Meals provided, and library. As a distance learning campus few traditional amenites are needed.

3 College Junior

Computers: great network and coverage to the dorms. bringing your own pc a must, to get set up with the remote protocols and software.

3 College Senior

Campus Housing: The buildings on campus are very old but have been kept in good condition. The rooms are clean with sufficient furniture for the short stays, including closets and desks and lamps. Finding three prong electrical outlets is a bit more difficult and they are not in every dorm bedroom. Bathrooms are shared on each floor.

3 College Senior

Parking: Gravel and Steep Grades – There is not a great expectation of traffic on the tiny campus. Parking space is by the small historic buildings that serve as dorms.

4 College Senior

Diversity: Students from around the globe attend as this is one of the oldest midwifery universities in America and around the world.

5 College Senior

Local Atmosphere: The campus is very tiny in the rural mountains of a very out of the way towne. The area is rich in history and adjacent to the west side of the Cumberland Gap area, so the Appalachian flora/fauna diversity is fairly abundant.

College Senior

Off-Campus Housing: There is no off campus housing as the campus is located in a VERY rural area.

4 College Senior

Facilities: Great Education – Overall Frontier provides a great education for driven students. I believe any online program requires alot of self directed learning. Students must find their own clinical sites which drives students into their communities. It helps them network, but is very difficult. The FNU has a high board pass rate and low failure rate. Admission is competitive. The school is constantly growing and I look forward to what the future holds for them.

3 College Senior

Facilities: Needs Cleaning – The school is a distance program and the campus is not used continuously. While the historic aspect of the school is fantastic we had issues with mold in the bathroom and generally needing more cleaning in the dorms.

5 College Senior

Campus Dining: Fantastic Food – While special diets may be an issue, the food at frontier is fantastic and lots of fresh fruit and veggies. Homecooked meals. Don't plan on loosing weight.

4 College Senior

Overall Experience: Growing Pains – I am about to graduate from FNU and while I have had issues with some things along the way I do have to say that overall I feel the University does a good job. The biggest hole that I experienced was the lack of communication regarding changes at the University level. However, all classes where clear and expectations explained. I have to say that as a whole the faculty are great and many have been very supporting and helpful during my time with the University.

4 College Senior

Diversity: Frontier Nursing University has students from all over the world. While students most complete clinical in the US many do complete the requirements up until the last few months in various other countries. In addition FNU takes great pride in supporting diversity at the school.

4 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: Frontier's School Atmosphere – Frontier Nursing University is an online based school where all didactic courses are taken online. Then, there is an apprenticeship performed in your local community. You as the student seek out your own preceptor for the apprenticeship, therefor any specific topics on atmosphere would not be unique to the school.
