Scholarships: There are many scholarships that are handed out, but there is always a multitude of applicants. Most of the time you can usually receive at least one scholarship.

4 Recent Alumnus

Off-Campus Housing: There are many different rentals throughout the city of Hays. Most student opt to live close to campus for at least one semester and then move farther away in order to get more bang for their buck. Looking for rentals early is key and most look through Nextech clssifieds

Majors: To get accepted into the education program you must take certain classes to be eligible and then fill out an application as well as write an essay. I didn't encounter any challenges during this process. Keeping your attitude in line and working hard in class goes a long way.

4 Recent Alumnus

Majors: The professors work hard to make sure that you are prepared to enter into the workforce, the placement for student teaching was done in a timely manner and most candidates were placed where they had requested.

Guys & Girls: There are a lot of small town people that attend FHSU. This means that there are a lot of students that dress more country and are more interested in the agricultural part of life. Nevertheless, there are many students that come from larger towns and many different styles emerge.

4 Recent Alumnus

Diversity: We have many people from many different backgrounds. We have students that attend from all over the world. The campus is very accepting of different beliefs that individuals hold.

4 Recent Alumnus

Athletics: Students love to attend athletic events and cheer on their classmates.

Academics: You are able to go into the classroom very early and continue to be in the classroom throughout your college career. The workload can be challenging at times but if you stay organized you can complete all the assignments. The faculty is working on improving the courses and incorporates technology into most classes. FHSU has excellent job placements if you hare having difficulty finding a job.

Academics: The curriculum is rigorous yet it prepares you for the real world. The professors expect you to be professional and to have a good attitude while taking their classes. Your academic advisor helps you enroll for classes and also will help you to apply for entry into the program.

Health & Safety: I have personally never ran into a situation where I have felt uncomfortable due to my personal safety. Students are advised to always have a friend when going somewhere new or going somewhere late at night.

4 Recent Alumnus

Facilities: The athletic center is great, they have multiple areas for students to get together to use gyms. They have a center for student to work out for free as well as a pool. The student center is great and puts on some really good activities. The library accommodates everyone and works hard to keep up with the digital age. The quad is a huge grassy area that students use to hang out, use hammocks and play games with friends.

Facilities: We have a lot of tradition and small town feel to our campus. The professors really care about the student success and the faculty want all the students to succeed as well. There are a lot of students that are in multiple organizations which means that the campus flexibility is excellent.

4 Recent Alumnus

Campus Strictness: FHSU wants their students to be happy and safe. All of the rules are set in place to do just so. The rules are enforced so that they can keep the students safe.

Off-Campus Dining: Hays has chain restaurants, fast food, mom and pop restaurants, a sushi place as well as many Mexican food places to eat. They all are very good quality and are enjoyed by students as well as community members.

5 Recent Alumnus

Greek Life: The school is small, so the Greek community is different than larger schools. We are a family and we all care about each other. We all have many friends within the Greek community as well as outside of the Greek community. The Greek community is growing which is exciting! Not all of the chapters have houses, but this doesn't seem to deter anyone from joining. I joined a sorority as a freshman and it was the BEST decision ever!

5 Recent Alumnus

Overall Experience: I love attending FHSU! The students are super friendly and you make new friends all the time! The alumn support is great along with the community support. There are a ton of organizations that you can get involved in. The campus is beautiful and is well spaced. The professors are very personable and see their students as people not just names.

3 College Sophomore

Academics: classes are small and typicall college hardness, most if not all teachers are approcahable and considereate.

4 College Sophomore

Athletics: our biggest ones for students going to are the football and basketball. during these two events there is a lot of school spirit especailly football! basketball is one of our best sports both mens and womens!

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: the best dorm is for tolerabitly is Wiest, the strictest is Mcmides. the stadium place appartments are the best for older students. and the suites are supposed to be pretty good. we have a new one opening in the next year or so.
